Excellent product 23 Feb 2009
By Il Capo
Excellent product , very light and small , easy to carry , very well built. If you need a tripod and don't want to be carrying one , this is the solution.

lightweight 20 Jan 2012
I bought this for my son for Christmas as he is a photography student at university. He has a larger tripod which is cumbersome to carry sometimes and I thought this might be something he could more easily use when travelling. It is neat and compact and light. It has the advantage over many other monopods in having it's own quick release plate already fitted.
The downside is the telescopic leg comes out like a cheap collaspsible umbrella with those little spring-loaded ball bearing fittings to hold it in place - this has the effect of not being as solid a leg as you might want, but does the job.
Pros: Lightweight and easily used.
Cons: Cheap construction not for professionals.
Overall its inexpensive and does the job, but its a lightweight!

A very handy tool 18 Mar 2012
I have used this with my quite weighty DSLR, a small compact and also an HD Camcorder
It was bought mainly for my new camcorder to provide a steady platform. It also had to be small and light.
Another reviewer has suggested that itis flimsy, I would disagree, the telescopic leg is not intended to
take a lot of pressure and if you handle it with respect it will do what you need. It is not a walking stick!
Recent Camcorders have become very light and touching the on screen controls can easily move your camera so this allows you to keep the camera much steadier.
When collapsed it easily fits into a small day rucksack so ideal for travelling in places where you do not want to advertise that you might have a costly camera.
Although the DSLR is a lot heavier the leg is stiff enough to give you that extra control.
The only negative I have found is that the tightening knob has a relatively short thread so you need to take care that when it is not 'locked' it does not work itself loose.
