1.0 out of 5 stars Refund for faulty goods 2 May 2012
By anita

IF I WERE YOU I WOULDN'T BOTHER WITH THIS FIRE!
[...]
Mine was faulty - the switches didn't work, there was a tingling on the metal frame when it was switched on and the stand was crooked. Apart from not being fit for purpose I would estimate this product as dangerous.
When I tried to claim a refund I was told it would cost 10 to send back.
I then told them I would go to Trading Standards if they didn't refund and that sort of
changed things and got some stirring! Then they demanded that before I got a refund I needed to take off the bad review I gave the product because they only encourage "Good" reviews and to let them know I had done so before they would refund .(copies of emails kept)
I refused to withdraw review on the grounds that it was a "fair" appraisal of the heater.
Apparently a full refund is now possible - but not without a fight!!

I purchased this item mainly as we have no heating and needed a small, economical heater to keep us warm. It does just that. Takes an hour or so to heat a small room, but if you keep it on there is a lovely heat that warms the whole room. We had a fan heater before, which was expensive and dried out the air, irritating our eyes, so this is much better and great value for money.

The shortcomings of this product are:
1. the base is very flimsy and you have to re-adjust the wire each time you move the heater, as the sensor pad switches itself off.
2. Due to the flimsy/lightweight base this just isn't suitable to have around young children or indeed animals. We have a cat and she can knock this over.

Other than that, its a great little heater and I'll probably buy another one more sturdy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, but does the job. 5 May 2011
By Al Pod
I'm happy with my purchase. The quality isn't astonishing, but it does the job. Takes 3x200mm (length tip to tip) tubes. 1 tube lasts for more than a month if you use the heater on daily bases for several hours. It is possible to 'squeeze in' tubes of up to 215mm in length (and I did). Tubes can be replaced by removing both sidepieces (7 screws holds each one in place, lol) and then removing both grids. Be sure to unplug it before attempting to replace the tubes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product 27 Dec 2010

The product arrived in good order and in good time. I picked this as a energy saving product, not had my electric bill since using it but having done a bit of research I found this type of heater are one of the best on energy use (400 = 4p per hr, 600 = 6p per hr, 800 = 8p per hr and so on), a good heat source, my son's use it in their bedrooms when the heating goes off at night when they're still up. All round good product.

Very pleased with performance and quality. It is much more efficient in quickly heating a room that the oil filled radiators.

2.0 out of 5 stars Avoid this heater! 31 Jan 2012
By Coxp
I purchased 2 of these heaters as a cheap way of heating my home. They did just that! Nice warm heat, lovelly light and everything was fine. I thought I had great value for money. About 1 month in, the turn function broke. The heaters are on VERY cheap VERY wobbly stands, unsafe for children and animals as is easily knocked over, both my heaters are stuck in 1 position now, unable to automatically turn. This I could live with. About a month later, after having one of the heaters on for approx 4/5 hours the plastic on/off switch melted! Lovelly smells of burning plastic and the unit will not switch on/off anymore. A few weeks later EXACTLY the same thing happened to second heater, Cheap plastic buttons on top of unit melt and stop working. I only had the heaters for 3 months and both are now usless. The unit is cheap and you get what you pay for. Avoid if you have young children, pets or using in busy area, Avoid if you need them on for long peroids of time as they melt after approx 4 hours of constant use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Stuff! 14 Nov 2011
By Andy

Was a bit wary after reading some reviews about this product being cheap/badly made but I have no such qualms about it. It came neatly boxed. Construction simply involved lining up the base screw holes to the heater and putting them in. It only works one way round so don't panic like I did when you first proffer it up and you can't see the holes. Turn it round and Voila! The heater gives off great heat, one bar is enough at close quarters. Two is very toasty and 3 could spit-roast a pig. And it's bright too if you need extra light. I don't use the motorised swivel function but it works perfectly. My only complaint is that on carpet the heater points ever so slightly more towards the floor than straight ahead but this was solved by putting some of the polystyrene packaging that came with it under the neck.
For the price you really couldn't ask for more especially with the added peace of mind that comes with the cut out switch; which activates if you knock the unit over.
But finally yes I agree with other reviewers, the first time you switch it on open the windows!

This is a great heater and saves money, the only thing is the light it gives off is very bright and is a little off-putting if you are trying to watch TV for example.
