Amazon.co.uk Review

The Halo games were always the best reason to by an Xbox and now the final part in the initial trilogy of ground breaking first person shooters is set to raise the bar for all Xbox 360 games. Well known for their secrecy, Bungie have officially revealed little about Halo 3, but what is known is that the new game features an Earth completely overtaken and controlled by the Covenant, as they seek a secret hidden Forerunner weapon.

Although little is known about the single player mode, more has been seen of the multiplayer, with various beta testing schemes going on in both secret and in public. A number of new weapons and vehicles have already been revealed including a new assault rifle, the new Spartan laser anti-vehicle weapon and a new hand held shield device for Master Chief that can create a far more effective protective shield around you. New vehicles include the ATV-like Mongoose, a new variant of the Warthog and the new, more powerful, Brute Ghost.

Of course the most important new feature that every new fan is interested in is the graphics, and they are looking predictably fantastic. With lots of technobabble, new features like high dynamic range lightning and pre-computed radiance transfer means the game will not only play great but looks amazing too.

best halo so far... 9 Sep 2010

Edition:Classics Edition
Fun:
Cheers guys!

this game is so much fun i couldn't believe it during first playthrough. I started playing halo:CE just 3 weeks ago (for the first time ever). Then i skipped halo 2 (i watched all cutscenes on youtube und read the story of halo 2) and started halo three in order to finish it in time for reach. I finished halo 3 just recently on legendary in co-op mode and immediately started it again on legendary single-player. I just can't get enough!
I'm 26 years old and the halo series just hit me, so to speak.

I'm sorry if my writing isn't that good, i'm german.

In the end i recommend this game to EVERYONE.

A Kid's Review

Fun:
single player-9/10

the single player on this game has a very good plot I can't compare it to the previous games because as a relatively young gamer i never had the pleasure of playing one but if they're as good as this game then they must be great. The variety of weapons is quite good as is variety of vehicles. The storyline is gripping but some of the levels can get a bit repetitive hence the loss of one mark, very fun to play but finishes all a bit too quickly and will definitely leave you wanting more.

multiplayer- 10/10

multiplayer on halo 3 is absolutely brilliant you can almost always find someone to play with within a minute on all the games. The bonus weekend games bungie puts up are a great way to raise your exp quickly. I completed single player in maybe 5-7 hrs of play maybe a few weeks ago but i'm still playing halo thanks to the multiplayer it's great fun and it runs very smoothly congrats to bungie on that front definitely.

overall-4/5

I bought this game because of all the hype i'd heard great great things about this game so when I found it for relatively cheap I couldn't resist.
It's an extremely good game and very very fun to play but it's hyped up too much and when anything's that hyped up it's bound to have some faults and I can't help but feel a bit disappointed but perhaps I set my expectations a bit too high. When I played this first I didn't like it and looking back at it it seems crazy but it's true. Buy this game you definitely will not regret it.

Fun:
Halo 3 is a pretty decent game overall, sporting some nice graphics (lol at the ps3 fanboy in another 'review') which while not crysis or killzone 2 esque is certainly very nice and anyone calling them 'poor' obviously only plays crysis on a nuclear powered computer, has a poor tv.. or is a troll/fanboy. :P

Single player campaign.. eeeeh.. alright.. standard halo plot really.. and without going into too much of a spoiler.. yes there are the flood.. yes you do blow up a halo ring.. again.. and its got some brilliant voice work on it (the number of celebs on it is.. suprising to say the least).

The campaign is much better coop in my opinion.. particularly when you have 4 people on legendary difficulty all screaming 'OH GOD I'M ABOUT TO DIE *Gets sticky naded*'. And its with friends where you'll end up getting the most fun out of this game, instead of say playing by yourself on a dodgy old tv. >__>

Multiplayer is pretty solid, though you do suffer the usual types who play this game to the point of bizarre obession as you do in every game, but you can a have lot of fun. Balanced maps, vehicles and weapons, with few weapons feeling redundant generally.. plus consistent stat tracking on bungie.net and the theatre keeping your last 20 or so games saved for you to watch from any angle, as any player or as an invisible spectator, taking pictures as you want.

Wouldnt suggest playing it after say, battlefield bad company or Call of duty as you will probably find the multiplayer feels slow in comparison, but you can have a lot of fun on it, as long as you have some buddies with you.

But thats just me.

An 'essential' purchase? Probably not but you could do worse, if you have money to burn/lots of friends still playing it then sure buy it. You could spend it on a lot worse.. say.. haze?

Also I really wish people were more realitic with their reviews/the rampant fandom I see spewed about here just got lost..
