5.0 out of 5 stars Compact and easy to use 15 April 2013

Such a funky little tin! It can be carried around anywhere - in a pocket, handbag, etc. The cards are smaller than the standard deck, and still retain all the details of the larger ones. This is a fun deck with a Halloween slant - a lovely addition to your collection. I would suggest it's better for intermediates - but beginners would be able to understand also.

These are smaller than the original deck, but the deck comes in a lovely tin and the illustrations are the same. Love this deck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Halloween Tarot in a Tin 3 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase
It's a nice little deck that fits nicely into a little tin, which then protects the cards from being in your handbag or ruck-sack, so that the cards don't get bent. The deck is very suitably themed for Halloween and fun for the kids to view too!

5.0 out of 5 stars ...and it is in a tin! 29 May 2010

The Halloween Tarot deck was already one of my favorite decks. This version is smaller, the details are still sharp. It is very easy to shuffle. Best, it comes in a lovely tin. The tin is primarily purple with the suit images on the sides and the Tower card's image of the haunted house on the front. I can shove the deck in the Dark Matter Hole of Death, (my purse), and I will never have to worry about a pen leaking and damaging my cards, like my larger deck. It has a LWB included. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Campy, Entertaining Deck! 7 Jun 2011
By Kiki - Tarot Dame - Published on Amazon.com
The Halloween Tarot in Tin is a fun, family-friendly deck that can be used all year round. Although October is the obvious time to pull out this deck, it certainly need not be reserved for Halloween time. I have used the deck with enjoyable readings smack dab in the middle of Spring!

There are two versions of this deck. The one I have is the pocket sized version which comes in a tin (like its cousins the Vanessa Tarot and Gummy Bear Tarot). The cards have a matte finish, which I love, and they shuffle beautifully. There is also a companion book (sold separately), which I don't own, but hear is good.

The artwork in the Halloween Tarot is cartoony and the coloring is very vibrant. The scenes take place at night, so the skies are all black, which gives the deck a fitting atmospheric feel.

The deck is RWS based, so most of the cards are instantly recognizable, and readable right out of the box. There are only a few exceptions where the cards stray slightly from the norm.

The suits have changed, and have a Halloween theme:

Cups: Ghosts
Wands: Imps
Swords: Bats
Pentacles: Pumpkins

Within the deck are familiar references to various horror genere characters, such as the Bride of Frankenstein, Wednesday Addams, Dracula, etc. There are also your garden variety of recognizable monsters and creatures of the night. There are depictions of Vegetable People included, which were German-made toys popular in America in the 1920's. Familiarity with the Vegetable People isn't necessary to work with the deck, as I hadn't heard of them before, and they blend right into a typical Halloween scene. There is a also black cat which follows you around, as it is featured in every card in the deck.

The Death and Devil cards are not scary in this deck, which makes it inviting for people of all ages. Death features a happy go lucky skeleton watering his garden with a big smile on his face. The Devil shows a female devil-woman, also with a nice smile, holding three little human-like creatures on loose leashes.

I find the Halloween Tarot to be very honest in its readings, yet still able to get its message across with an occasional sense of humor. It's not a deck I would select for a deeply, emotionally serious reading. But for inquiries that are less dire and could withstand a tone that can be campy and unconventional, this is a great choice. It's easy to read stories within the cards, which makes for a fun reading when combining your storytelling with Halloween images.

The LWB: The Little White Book which accompanies the Halloween Tarot in Tin is semi-deck-specific, however it unfortunately doesn't go into detail on the illustrations themselves. Keywords for reversals are not given. There is a brief intro written by the author, and the typical LWB spreads (Three Card and Celtic Cross).

This is definitely a deck you want to get if you plan on doing Halloween readings for an audience of varying ages. It's also a fantastic reading deck for any time of the year. It's a fun deck to use, and an entertaining variation of the RWS.

Suits: Ghosts, Imps, Bats, Pumpkins
Court Titles: Page Knight, Queen, King
Justice/Strength: Strength 8, Justice 11
Cards: 78
Card Size: 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"
Card stock: Matte
Backs: Reversible
Deck-specific LWB: Yes
Deck-specific Spread Sheet: No

5.0 out of 5 stars Creepy but Cute! 9 Oct 2011

I have and like the regular sized Halloween deck and card combo so much that when I found out it came in a smaller size AND in a tin, I bought it asap. I am a sucker for mini decks, and stuff in tins, so this was a great combo. I compared the two decks side by side, and other than size, they are the same image and color, just smaller with no loss of detail. (shrunken heads? No loss of detail or color. The fact that once again it is October and Halloween is fast approaching had NOTHING at all to do with my purchase. ha ha. This is a perfect handy size to store in your purse or wherever for when the urge to shuffle overcomes. Even the book that came with the larger deck is a small handy size to carry with, but the LWB is in the can, too. Love the deck, love reading with it, and folks at Amazon, let's get more mini (or full size) Tarot cards in tins! Yay!

5.0 out of 5 stars wish all decks came in tins 23 May 2011

This deck is always on the money and easy to understand. Bright colors, whimsical drawings, old timey ghosts and pumpkins, And I believe the cat is in every card somewhere.
The Tin is great, makes them so portable, much easier to tote in a purse. Cards are a bit smaller than the original, but does not cheapen them in any way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Smaller Deck with Handy Tin! 1 May 2012

I have recently gotten back into reading tarot cards and I read about this deck in a book. I love Halloween and all things scary, and I understood that the artwork in the Halloween Tarot is very faithful to the original Rider-Waite-Smith decks (which I can report that it is). I love this deck and it will surely become my "second" deck (after the Universal Waite or the Radiant Rider-Waite) and I'm sure that I will use it fairly exclusively in the fall. I liked it so much that I ordered the larger version of the deck as well (that comes with the book). I highly recommend this deck to anyone who loves Halloween and the tarot.
