From Amazon.co.uk

"You can't kill the boogeyman", explained John Carpenter in the original, and to prove it Michael Myers returns in the handsome but grisly sequel Halloween 2. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode but spends most of her time cowering in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasance runs around like a maniac as the panicky doctor desperate to hunt down Myers before he kills again. Carpenter writes and produces with partner Debra Hill and together they replace the mystery and uncertainty of the original with an exponentially bigger body count, some strange tales about the Druids and Pagan ceremonies, and the now-familiar family ties between Michael and Laurie. First-time director Rick Rosenthal (Bad Boys) paces the film at a brisk jog and directs it with a clean, crisp style, taking the murders out of the dark to display them in all their nasty detail. --Sean Axmaker

Just as good as the original… rare indeed for a sequel. --Bloody Disgusting

A good companion for the original… worthy of multiple watches. --Fatally Yours

Ok once again amaazon are mixing up the reviews for all the different reviews for halloween 2, so lets make this clear from the start... THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE US BLU RAY OF HALLOWEEN 2.

ok, now thats out of the way, halloween 2 follows on directly from halloween only this time directed by Rick rosenthal, as after writing the screenplay carpenter didn't want to direct 'more of the same' and moved on to other projects. The film takes the action to the local Hospital where michael myers quickly begins carving his way through the staff to get to the films last survivor Laurie strode (still played by jamie lee curtis from the first movie) all the while pursued by Dr sam loomis (donald plesence, who bcame a mainstay of the franchise).

Halloween 2 is gorier and louder than its predecessor and while some say its not as good as its predecessor (and their probably right about that) Halloween 2 is a LOT of fun nontheless and will certainly entertain fans of the origional. I'm not sure the gratuitous gore shots are really needed but are probably included for commercial reasons as at this point the slasher craze was in full swing and much of the competition was laying the grue on with a trowel. If you havent seen the origional Halloween then shame on you, go buy it now, if you have then this is well worth watching and definately one of the better horror sequels out there.

So is the disc worth getting?

YES.

If your a halloween fan the 35th anniversary blu-ray is a fantastic update. The picture quality is phenomenal and far better than even the previous, great quality, universal release.

Having already got several copies of Halloween II the main draw for me to buy this disc was because it has the film "Terror In The Aisles" as a bonus.
This film has never been released on DVD or Blu Ray before and my old VHS copy from 1984 was beginning to get very worn indeed.
So it was a delight to be able to finally get it on disc.
Whilst no great effort has been made to clean up the image I can say that it is far better than my old VHS tape in both sound and picture and I have never seen it look better since I saw it at the cinema many years ago.
The feature presentation of Halloween II is a massive upgrade too on my DVD copies so this was a win/win disc for me.
Highly recommended.

Iv owned this film on DVD for years and it was one of the worst DVDs I have ever bought.
It is full screen with picture and sound quality worse than ANY VHS I ever owned.
When I heard it was being re-released this October I had to buy it.
The film is now in widescreen with MUCH better picture and sound quality(although it remains in mono) and has an audio commentary by Stephen Jones and Kim Newman.
The film itself is a worthy sequel picking up the moment the first film ends, and it makes a perfect double bill.
For anyone who owns this on DVD (fullscreen) already, its well worth buying this version.

UK buyers beware!

This review is for the Collector's Edition of Halloween II from Shout Factory. This disc is LOCKED to Region A and will NOT play on UK players. See here for confirmation: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Halloween-II-Blu-ray/46632/

I suggest either buying the region free 30th Anniversary edition (see here: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Halloween-II-Blu-ray/19651/) or waiting for a decent UK release of this film.

DON'T BUY THE SHOUT FACTORY release unless you have a region-free or region-switchable blu-ray player as you will be very disappointed!

This is an absolutely brilliant horror film.It picks up exactly where the first one finishes, with Michael Myers still on the loose. This film is just more of the original, with the same suspense, tension, and the same kind of shocking murders, as Myers continues to stalk his sister, Laurie Strode(Jamie Lee Curtis) in a very dark and scary looking hospital. Donald Pleasance as ever is brilliant as Dr. Sam Loomis, and Jamie Lee Curtis proves again that she is the supreme scream queen. This is truly a great horror movie, helped by a great script, great cast and some very grizzly and gruesome killings(see the jacuzzi scene). This in my eyes is a real horror classic, up there with Halloween and the Scream Trilogy.GO BUY IT NOW!
