Reviews

From Amazon.co.uk

"You can't kill the boogeyman", explained John Carpenter in the original, and to prove it Michael Myers returns in the handsome but grisly sequel Halloween 2. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode but spends most of her time cowering in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasance runs around like a maniac as the panicky doctor desperate to hunt down Myers before he kills again. Carpenter writes and produces with partner Debra Hill and together they replace the mystery and uncertainty of the original with an exponentially bigger body count, some strange tales about the Druids and Pagan ceremonies, and the now-familiar family ties between Michael and Laurie. First-time director Rick Rosenthal (Bad Boys) paces the film at a brisk jog and directs it with a clean, crisp style, taking the murders out of the dark to display them in all their nasty detail. --Sean Axmaker

Review

Just as good as the original… rare indeed for a sequel. --Bloody Disgusting

A good companion for the original… worthy of multiple watches. --Fatally Yours

4.0 out of 5 stars Halloween 2 1981 Blu Ray 12 Jan 2012
Format:Blu-ray
Let's get straight onto the blu ray review this US import is region free.

The HD picture is a mixed bag as it looks sharp and clear but their is signs of print damage present throughout the entire movie universal were to lazy to clean up and re-master the print.

The special features are good Terror in the aisles is the main special feature which will be very interesting to horror fans. plus their is deleted scenes from Halloween 2 as well.

Overall i think this is the best Halloween sequel and worth buying this blu ray if you are a fan of the original.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hospital of Doom! 17 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
John Carpenter has done it again with this truly amazing sequal!! The end of the first film was so freaky everybody wanted a sequal, and when it was made nobody was dissapointed! Most of the time sequals are pretty bad but HALLOWEEN II was just as scary as the first. The setting is perfect. The hospital (where Laurie Strode was taken to after her ordeal in the first) is so quiet that it is scary. You're always suspecting Michael Myers to jump out from somewhere and kill. John Carpenter decided to add in what the first film lacked, gore. This film is pretty gory and not for the faint-hearted. Brilliant performances once again by the 'Scream Queen' Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence. There are a few memorable scenes and some interesting weapons eg. a scalpol! John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN II is definitely one of the best sequals in the world. 10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Terror in the Aisles info 25 Feb 2012
By Mick L
Format:Blu-ray
Just for your information regarding the extra on the US Blu Ray. I watched Terror in the Aisles last night on the blu ray and was delighted and surprised to see that it appeared to be the first cut that was graded an x by the MPAA and was replaced by a softer second version that got the R certificate. The second version is the one that was released by Palace Video (in one of their cool video boxes that were unlike any other company boxes) on VHS years ago and those of us who bought that will find the 1st cut quite different. There is more material from The Thing, The Shining, Videodrome, Halloween 2, The Brood, Suspiria and others.

Sadly the footage from Vice Squad and Night Hawks is still in there (seems to be a common mistake by idiotic people who confuse violence with horror - horror can be violent but so can other genres.) Also sadly, and moreso, footage from Dawn of the Dead is still absent despite the film being namechecked on the end credits.

Picture for Terror in the Aisles is variable - it mostly looks good enough as it is high def but some of the source materials were less than good (some VHS in there even?.) The sound mix is 2.0 virtually mono. However having this on a digital format of any kind is nostalgically nice and as Halloween 2 is the main feature this is a very welcome extra. It leaves me wondering if Universal will manage to come up with something similarly interesting for the Halloween 3 release they have planned.

Halloween 2 looks good but stick with the stereo mix rather than the "processed" 5.1 which is naff.

4.0 out of 5 stars The suspense is unreal!
Halloween 2 continues exactly where Halloween left off. Dr. Sam Loomis is the only one who takes the case serious enough to pursue the never-ending chase of Michael Myers. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Oldie but fun
Not a bad sequel to the original, could be better but it was the late 70's/ early 80's so you have to make exceptions.
