I read this book in two days and found it very hard to put down. It's not only a family saga but also a mystery. My mother was right. Ms. Jacobs has picked up where the late great Catherine Cookson left off. Thank God for writers like these that write about life and not that other trash masquerading as Victorian romance where the hero never wears a shirt and has his leading lady bent over backwards.

HALLAM SQUARE 28 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
THIS IS THE 4TH IN THE GIBSON FAMILY SERIES. THEREFORE I RECOMMEND THAT YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY READ SALEM STREET, HIGH STREET AND RIDGE HILL BEFORE HALLAM SQUARE.

HAVING READ THE FIRST THREE IN THE SERIES, HALLAM SQUARE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT AS THE 4TH IN THE SERIES. IT CLEVERLY CONTINUES ON, LEAVING YOU HOOKED ON EACH OF THE CHARACTERS. THIS IS A GRIPPING READ AND ANNA JACOBS EXCELLANTLY NUTURES ALL OF HER CHARACTERS, SO THAT THEY ARE ALL VERY MUCH INDIVUDUALS, FROM THE YOUNGEST TO THE OLDEST. I LOVE THIS PERIOD OF HISTORY AND SHE COVERS IT WELL. I HAVE NOW ORDERED SPINNERS LAKE UNFORTUNATELY THE LAST IN THE GIBSON FAMILY SERIES, AND I CANNOT WAIT TO START IT. I AM NOW LOOKING FOR MY NEXT ANNA JACOBS SERIES TO ABSORB MYSELF IN.
