Loved the original but this was possibly even better!

A great feelgood movie with a strong message running through it. I defy anyone not to be singing, dancing, clapping and shaking their booty within 5 minutes of watching it! Loads of extras on the two disc set including some of the dances to learn. Worth every penny and respect to John Travolta for giving it large as Edna Turnblad on the dancefloor!

Best film of the year!

Firstly I've got to say this film is waaaaaay better than the original that was released in 1988. The storyline has more structure, and all the characters get the chance to sing which is great.

Hairspray (2007) was well cast, and is a classic musical film that I'm sure will be shown for years to come. What's great also is, unlike Disney High School Musical which I feel is aimed at a pre-teen audience, Hairspray appeals to everyone, of any age.

I can honestly say this is the first film I've ever seen at the cinema, where people watching the film have actually stood up and started dancing!

Saw it with my girlfriend. Good reviews, high expectations. It does not disappoint. Possibly the perfect 'when you're ill' DVD for those days when the sofa, a blanket and a lemsip are as much as you can manage. And I hate musical films. I literally laughed my head off!!!!
