Product Description

Product Description

Haiku, the graceful and evocative form of Japanese poetry, celebrates nature in all its simple, subtle and unobtrusive beauty. In Haiku Knits, the texture of a felted skirt, the pattern made by a series of twisted cables or the casual elegance of an asymmetric garment celebrates this simplicity. Author Tanya Alpert, a knitwear designer and fibre artist, presents 25 simple, modern garments and accessories inspired by Japanese design, featuring innovative elements and beautiful fibres. Alpert introduces each pattern by explaining the inspiration behind it and how she incorporated it into her design. Illustrated with stunning photographs, this beautiful book also includes an appendix of essential techniques.

Lovely 30 Nov 2009
By MISS D. S. Taylor VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
I love this book. I'd describe myself as just beginning intermediate patterns. If like me you can manage basic shaping & yarn overs & etc. you will be very excited by this book & the patterns. Many are described as easy & do not look intimidating atal. Many of the yarns used are fine & look beautifully drapey.I purchased the book because I loved the cover design & I was not dissapointed. Whilst none of the designs would look out of place on London's catwalk, that is not to say that the floaty flair of the designs are unwearable day to day. There is nothing boring and run of the mill in this book!!. The designs are simply beautiful.

Absolutely fabulous 1 Dec 2009
Format:Hardcover
I received the book today having pre-ordered. I too loved the design on the front cover - and frankly didn't expect there to be that many designs that I would love as much in the book. But that wasn't the case at all. The knits are of the highest design quality - and look like they've cost several hundred pounds. Can't wait for the yarn I've ordered to arrive and to get knitting and having scanned the instructions they look easy to do.

Delightfully Japanese 18 Dec 2009
By Blue 60
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book mainly because of the pattern on the front cover and also because I like the Kimono style of jumper and cardigan (provided the sleeves are not too wide). Not all the patterns contained in the book appeal to me but there are at least 3 to 4 that do and that is pretty good when buying a book of patterns. The book bought through Amazon was good value with free p. & p. The book is well presented with nice photographs and not hard to follow. Out of 10, I would give it 7.
