Product Description

First volume of the anime series about online global gamers. In 2015, the global online game known as the 'The World' was destroyed when all of the datacentres containing the game's information mysteriously caught fire. However, using data from another project, the game is reborn as 'The World R:2'. Players around the world soon discover that the game is now more ruthless than before, with PKs (Player-Killers) attacking the weaker players. Into the game comes Haseo, immediately attracting the attention of the Twilight Brigade, a small brotherhood dedicated to finding the mythical 'Key of The Twilight'. With PKs and the Twilight Brigade on his trail, it's not long before Haseo has to make some crucial decisions.

3.0 out of 5 stars WARNING 13 Nov 2007
Format:DVD
This is a good series. Animation, sound, characters, VAs, storyline - all top notch. HOWEVER i don't advise watching this unless your planning on playing the .hack//G.U. trilogy on the playstation. Reason being that the anime doesn't really resolve anything at the end of the series. Shino is still comatosed, Ovan is doing his thing still etc. It's a little bit of a let down really especially if your paying £30 per dvd... and the only way to discover the grand conclusion is to play 3 games and own a psp2. Ok so you can read what happens on wiki/fansites, but it's really not the same as seeing it.

So 5 stars for the good points, minus 2 stars for the whole play 3 games if you want conclusion. Final grade - 3stars. THough tbh considering how much each dvd costs it probably should be 2stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars A World Gone Wrong 27 July 2007
By T. Bailey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
As some others have stated, I was a huge fan of the .Hack//sign series. When I saw roots, I was very excited to see the next generation of characters. However, I quickly got over that excitement.

As others have said, the pacing is off. Nothing much seems to go on for large chunks of time. On top of that, one of the things that really turned me off were the characters in general. It's like every griefer from every MMO you've ever played all banded together in one place. I can't stand those people in my games, and they're not any more entertaining when I watch them animated on my television. The heroes aren't really much better, and it's hard for me to get on their side, or become emotionally invested in their quest.

Whatever happened to wreck The World, it wrecked the francise too. This is for die hard fans only.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pacing..... a little........... slow. 5 Jun 2007
By Otaku James - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Well, actually the pacing is pretty much like .Hack//Sign and the story feels much more like that series than the disappointing .Hack//Legend of the Twilight, so if the first series was good for you then this season looks like it probably will be. For those new to the .Hack series this set will probably be infuriating and impenetrable.

But I like it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow start but I see potential 3 Jun 2007
By Xelius - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
The episodes on this DVD are slow to get to a point. The creators seem to be trying (too hard and needlessly) to emphasize that there's more than what you see going on. If you've watched .hack//SIGN then I think this will be somewhat more interesting to you because it feels like a continuation.
