In our world of haste and thoughtlessness it's good to read at true story that gives us all a view of a gentler age,of true friendship and extraordinary love. It's the tale of a dog almost 100 years ago that still has a bearing on Japanese culture today. They even have a holiday in his honour.
It's sad in places, thought provoking and is a tale for all ages, young and old alike.
If we are lucky we may be honoured to know a Hachiko in our lifetime, a cold wet nose, a gentle nudge. The name matters not, it's what they give us. I read this book and think of my own Hachiko, 12 years my very best friend.
ENJOY

I did not read the book...BUT I watched the movie with Richard Gere......most heartbreaking movie I have
seen since "IMITATION OF LIFE" (the original)......I have NEVER been able to get that dog out of my mind
to the point I hate to see his name - it brings back the absolute sadness of the movie...having said that, I
imagine the book is wonderful !!!!!!!!!!! I recommend it !!!!!!!!!!!!
