We got this as a present when my son was almost 6 months old. He love them and plays with them pretty much every day (he's now 9 months old). They are small and light for little hands. They seem to be interesting enough to keep a baby's attention as he observes each intently as well as lifting them and tapping them together. I get the feel that he feels in control when he handles the blocks. He appears very busy with shaking them, tapping them, switching them between hands, looking at them, mouthing them, chuchking them, etc. They're small enough to be very protable and we take them with us when we are traveling.

Firstly, the product details here are rather misleading as the make is actually Haba and not Marbel - not that I have a problem with this because Haba make excellent toys, I just thought it was worth mentioning. These are extremely attractive, interesting and well-made blocks and my son, who is fourteen months, seems to like them a lot. They are smaller than I expected but I actually think that this is ideal for younger toddlers, as they are easy to handle. He has enjoyed the Haba Discovery Balls immensely and so I thought it would be nice to get something similar that he can build with. The problem here is that, owing to the shiny painted surface, these blocks are not easy to stack on top of each other. They are not too bad when used with unpainted wooden blocks but have rather put me off buying any further coloured Haba building blocks in case we have the same problem - this is why this toy has not been given five stars. However, I think they are brilliant blocks to be explored and carried around and I'm sure they'll be enjoyed for years.

On first appearance these blocks looks small, but they are a perfect size for babies and toddlers to handle easily. Each block is a different colour and contains a 'feature' such as a bell, a mirror, or coloured perspex.
My daughter really likes playing with these blocks and I am impressed by the range of features some of which are unusual, such as the fly's eye lens in one block which is the source of much entertainment. For anyone who remembers Top of the Pops in the 70s, looking through this lens will remind you of the video effects of that era! The blocks are also easily stackable and can be picked up by a little one using one hand easily.
