One of Castro's promises to Cubans was that prostitution would be terminated in Communist Cuba, but it wasn't, indeed Cubans were prostituted under a perversion of values and bizarre social and economic reality. This book portraits that reality, even if the author tries to exonerate the architects of it. Prostitution in Cuba is not a "red district" issue, it involves police and government officials, marginal people but mainly highly educated professionals, dedicated mothers, espouses caring for their family and children, "normal" people who would never engage in prostitution in other countries. Well written book, deep, painful, explicit. A very good collection of testimonials to know and try to understand Cuba and its vices.
