Product Description

"Ex-Royal Marine commando Hunter is no angel. He drinks too much and loves women even more. His wife Jenny is carrying on her own affair with his best friend, Jock, and the mysterious landscape that surrounds the young family holds the kinds of dark secrets that create suspenseful folklore.

When Hunter and Jenny decide to rekindle their love via an out-of-the-way weekend trip with their young son Carl, they drive into a quaint village, obviously untouched for hundreds of years. After encountering a gnarled old woman who gives them directions to a local pub, Hunter is excited by the chills that travel down his spine. Jenny just wants to go home. During a post-lunch stroll in the countryside, Hunter stumbles upon twelve standing stones. As he touches one of the stones, his hand is covered in blood and even more red liquid puddles around his feet. Suddenly, their son disappears from where they were picnicking and while on a frantic search to find him, Jenny and Hunter encounter a mythical monster like no other.

Hunter must fight for his life and the lives of his family as he desperately attempts to save them all from the Beast of Exmoor."

A beast of a book 8 May 2009
By GPB
Format:Paperback
What an amazing book which grips you from the beginning. Make sure you're not at home on your own on a winters night in a secluded country house when you are reading this. I have spent many nights walking and camping on Exmoor and reading this book puts me back there. Although having now read this I'm not sure when I will dare to venture out onto the moor again! A very mysterious read with lots of twists and turns that is hard to put down. Slightly pricey but you get what you pay for.

Dartmoor Disaster 22 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
When you are paying a lot of money for a paperback, you expect a certain level of quality. The price of this book was a shock, but not nearly as much as the story, which was predictable, unoriginal, blank and blunt. I wanted a creature feature and got spriritual nonsense. Not what I was looking for.

Absolute embodiment of creepy! Awesome! 16 May 2009
By Randy V - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
P.A. Skinner's debut novel is a solid read that casually pulls you in to the main character's average world, and hooks you with the terrifying disappearance of his beloved child. The book takes a nice ride from the mundane to seriously creepy horror, and never lets you off the hook. A family outing in Exmoor turns into an absolute nightmare you will not forget. I love this book and hope to see more from this talented new writer.
