While searching for an extra mini USB cable to charge my HTC Tattoo, I wasn't sure whether to get a 5-pin or 11-pin. I emailed the HTC support team, who gave me this response:
"That cable will work fine, as will any mini usb cable, it is the 5 pin mini USB which is fine for Sync, data transfer and charging. The 11 pin ExtUSB connector is only required for serial connections, service cables, and headsets."
'That cable' refers to this product (I sent them the link to Amazon). I have used it for charging & data transfer and can confirm that it works perfectly. It seems to be identical to the original cable that came in the box. Recommended!

Excellent. works perfectly for my HTC Smart F3188,was able to charge the phone and plug to my computer to detect my card memory.
You can use it plugged in to a PC, or in the car-it has a car adaptor, and at home or work you can put it all in mains. Versatile!

USB - Mini-USB cable
The cable seems fine but is just a standard USB to Mini-USB cable so sadly does not fit my Desire Z. Read more

I bought this for my HTC Desire, unfortunately it's the wrong cable!! so I'm going to have to return it. Although this product is described as "HTC Genuine" I'm not convinced!! Read more
