I was previously using a Chinese generic USB charger, but didn't much like the build quality of it. I then started researching USB chargers and decided it definitely needed replacing, in particular after reading a USB chargers review on a blog by Ken Shirriff: generic chargers have low efficiency and poor power quality, the worst are unsafe to use. The HP charger was top rated in that review.

Now, this charger: part is P/N 157-10157-00. This is a 2 amp charger. I bought from seller Luzern and did get this part. In the past I believe some other sellers have sold other HP chargers that are different part numbers and only 1 Amp rating under this product, hence some negative reviews of this charger.

What's good about this charger: high build quality, kit comes with AU, EU, UK, US adapters (4 heads and barrel twists off to keep charger small to carry around), also comes with a micro USB cable. I have used this to charge an HTC phone with no problems. Details on power quality, efficiency etc.: see Ken Shirriff's blog post.

The product as sold by Luzern is indeed the correct 2A HP Touchpad charger kit. I have ordered 3 from Luzern all of which are 0.4A input 2A output. When connected to the Touchpad these are the correct charger units.

Be aware !, this product is not designed for the Touchpad "as advertised"
but is for the Palm, the mili-amp output is lower..

I purchased this item for my LG Nexus 4 as I wanted a high quality low cost USB Mains charger that could output enough current to keep my device charging, even when under heavy use. This unit has more than met those expectations.

I bought my unit from Luzern - and I can confirm the unit that arrived is the correct HP Touchpad charger that outputs 2.1 amps at 5 volts.

My testing-

I no longer have any good electronics kit I can test with, but a blog reviewed this charger and rated it above even the (Exceptionally good but sadly proprietary) Apple charger. If you're interested in this review, please Google "A dozen USB chargers in the lab: Apple is very good, but not quite the best" so all data below is possibly spurious.

First charge - device reports bringing in an impressively stable 780mA - very little fluctuation until I touch the screen, where it drops slightly but then goes straight back up. This is because of the "Transient response" of the charger - it takes a few microseconds for the charger to output the extra power needed to the device.

All regulation circuitry in terms of requested ampage is inside the device and it requests enough power to keep the battery charging at 800mA and the device functioning.

One test I performed which shows just how good this charger is, is this. I loaded all 4 cores of the Krait chip at 100% for around 10 minutes. In this minute the phone was drawing around 2.5 Amps from the battery. Apon plugging in the charger, the device started charging. A further 2 minutes showed a steady 100mA was entering the battery (ie charging it.) That shows this charger is actually outputting around 2.6 Amps!

Fast delivery, original HP charger, 2 Amps like everyone wants here ;-)

But, right after I ordered it, I gathered I could use a second one, and wanted to change my order.
Postal fee is higher than product price, so it would be double fun for only a little more money.
I immediately emailed Luzern through Amazon, but by the time they answered (took 30 minutes max) the order couldn't be changed anymore. Reason: they already shipped it out! ;-)

So, if you want to change your order afterwards, only chance you may have is to cancel the order and start over.
Because Luzern is fast as lightning!!! Order came in on the 3rd day, from Ireland to the Netherlands, what more could I want?
Big thumbs up, only regret is that I have to pay postal fee once more.

Luzern, I wouldn't mind if you could help me with a coupon for postal fee or something! Thanks in advance :-)

The Nexus 7 is fussy about the power supply and internal pin wiring. The issue with the Asus charger that comes with it is that you have to use it travelling abroad in countries with different pins as your own. Adapters can spell trouble in faulty connections on flimpsy sockets abroad. This HP offering built in 2011 for another device works well with the Nexus 7, no problems, connection on the USB is micro USB which is good for the Nexus, 2 amps out and the correct pin wiring. The selection of pins for different countries that comes with it is good which you just click into place. All in all I'm delighted with it and a big thank you to the other people that found this as a good international travel charger for the nexus 7, something that Asus do not make.

This is indeed not for the hp touchpad - the voltage and amp is incorrect and the touchpad will complain about the charger when connected.
It is an official HP charger (for the palm) so the build quality is good.
