How delighted or otherwise you will be with this printer/scanner depends entirely on what your main reason for needing one is. The innovation with the M275 is that instead of the typical flatbed scanner, it uses digital camera on a raised arm that allows you to take 3D pictures without the usual glare and shadows you would get if you used a conventional scanner. It's pretty much effective at this (there is some glare off shiny objects but that's to be expected). But how useful that is, I'm not so sure.

I guess if you list loads of small (ie less than A4 sized) trinkets on e-bay this cuts out the need to photograph the items first, but really, is that such a chore? I would say that if that is what you are going to use this for for about 50%+ of the time - it's a good option (in fact that's a bit of a backhanded compliment because in terms of home units, it's pretty much your only option with this technology) and it will do the job well. For the more technically minded - what it does is takes 6 images and gives a composite image - clever if less than essential. If, though you are using it as an all rounder and, like most people using is a lot for printing, it's less than compelling. Also, the 3D technology in fact makes flat scans (ie documents especially from books) rather less clear than the more traditional all in one printer/scanner/copiers. So that's not great.

On the plus side, it has a reasonably small footprint so won't look out of place in a home office. It's pretty heavy, but you aren't going to be moving it much once it's in place. Set up is relatively easy too - it has its own internal driver - you plug it in and it you are pretty much ready to go once it has done its stuff.

Very impressed with this specialist printer. I was initially perturbed by its mere 600dpi spec until I realised that this printer is made for the web and for plain paper printing.

You print irrespective of lighting conditions and you don't cover up the document or article being photographed as you would with a conventional flat-bed scanner. It recognised my WiFi router with ease. It just needs the relevant App to upload directly to Ebay or any other shopping site.

Its main selling point is its ease of use. I'm not sure if the touch screen controls are true touch screen since I needed to press slightly to engage a function. I shall also be using it for art's sake. A keen lover of the original picture: the mind boggles as the paper being printed on can be used and re-used.

If I resist five stars this is due to the price of replacement ink and the unit being supplied with half full ink cartridges. Something mean-spirited in that.

I had to replace my good old HP 2600n, the toners were ridiculously expensive and this was supposed to be the better. It is not, it is very noisy, too particular on what paper you use, the toners supplied with the machine are already on very low, but we know that makers do not put full ones in on a sale - at least I jolly well hope so - for them to be out already means I have made an even bigger mess up by getting this! Very dissapointing, but HP didn't have much choice on laser colour for the home - bring back my 2600!!!
