4.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable, but not great 20 Feb 2012
By Sakari
I have had my Slate 2 not for nearly 2 months, and time is ripe to write about it. I like my tablet, I really do. I don't regret purchasing one.

That being said, there are things that I don't much like;
- provided Swype input method aggressively resets your configurations on virtual keyboard related matters. It also caused a number of lesser issues (such as inability to log on with a password starting with capital letter and graphics bugs in desktop). It also features very limited selection of locales, so unless you're native english speaker, you propably want to uninstall this application and fall back to Win7's own virtual keyboard.

- The screen backlight is not uniform, but it seems to radiate/reflect much more light on the edges of the display. This is clearly apparent during boot screen and more importantly, watching a movie. You'll get used to it, but a high quality feature it is not.

- Screen rotation is apalling. 1) It takes anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds to actually rotate the screen. 2) Maximized programs have the tendency to lose that state and just be streached to the new orientation. 3) It gets confused. Several occasions now, I have had to go to the graphics options and instruct the device, which orientation are we now at, as funny as it sounds... 4) It messes up the screen buffers somehow. If you have had it on for awhile and start rotating the screen, it may end up displaying random likes of colors instead of the desktop. This usually is recovered by returning the device into the previous orientation, but if you don't close programs and reboot soon, you will end up losing your work. Trust me on this one. 5) It has no sense whatsoever when rotating the display is a reasonable thing to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hp Slate 2 13 Jan 2012
Not to sure what to expect from my first Win Tablet, first impressions well equiped with hardwear that no Android tab or Ipad will give, ie. Sd card, USB etc. Hp have really hit the mark with this 2nd version of the popular slate. EXREMELY RESPONSIVE TO BOTH TOUCH AND PEN INPUT. Addition of swype keybard excellent , as Win 7 board lacking in functionality. Screen excellent and sound whilst playing video is very good. Hp do not include Ms office but I have downloaded 2010 and operation is comparible to my laptop with the added bonus of super portability. All in very impressed. Cant wait for slate 3 ! Thumbs up.
