Verified Purchase
Ordered this product more than 2 months ago and found that the price fluctuated more than 50%, which was disappointing as I kept feeling ripped off.

However, my first impressions of the HP Officejet Pro X476dw are good. The machine was bought to replace an 8 year old HP Photosmart 8600, which was beginning to die as the cogs were breaking from over-use. The HP Officejet Pro X476dw is HUGE and HEAVY, especially when compared to my old multi-functional printer. Make sure that you have enough space to place the item as it is likely to be the biggest item in the room.

I have used HP Officejet Pro X476dw for approximately one week now and have found that the printer does have a fast output (after the wait on the first page). The fax machine has still yet to be used. The photocopier is on par with most other machines, while the flatbed scanner is slightly faster than my old printer. The document feeder is REALLY fast, meaning that with the duplex feature, you will save plenty of time digitising folders should you want a paperless office (like me). The feeder does also only take one piece of paper at a time, unlike my old printer which found it fit to take multiple paper sheets at a time (this means that you are likely to have more productivity rather wasting time to ensure that only one is going through at a time). The side paper tray "catcher / holder" is a bit flimsy (it does easily come off) and is likely to be the first thing to break (subject to all the other parts working as intended).

Set up was easy enough (make sure that you are connected to your network before printing off your product code). The ePrint feature works as expected.

I am slightly concerned about the ink cost (which should apparently work out 50% less) but only time will tell.

I absolutely loved this machine UNTIL after 16 months it suddenly developed a fault and kept giving an error code 0xc6fd0613. HP support seems fairly hopeless once out of warranty and from what I could see from various message boards, it was irreparable. I think this is extremely poor for what is an expensive machine and doubly expensive as I had just changed the ink cartridges for new XL ones in the hope of correcting the problem. Very disappointed, in fact verging on bereft, as when it worked it did everything I wanted it to do, it was quick and looked great, (unlike the useless Epson I replaced it with and which has just been returned). If anyone knows how to repair this printer, I'd be pleased to know. Alternatively, can anyone recommend any reliable, high volume printer?

UPDATE: I found a number to call for HP business support: 0845 161 0030 (options: printer/officejet/X476dw). Within about 10 minutes, HP offered to replace the printer the next day, which they did. Very happy to have a functioning X476dw again!

Bought this to replace my ageing HP all in one.

First things first - it is very, very fast. Faster than a laser printer. First page takes around 8 seconds or so, but after that the pages pop out one after another every second or two - and this is a full page of printed copy, not just a letter with a bit of black text. It really is laser speed due to the fixed full width print head. That also ensures that the printer remains still when printing, unlike some inkjet printers. It also prints two-sided if you wish, but this slows things up a little as it waits for the ink to dry before printing on the reverse.

The scanner document feeder is also stunningly faster, eating documents for fun. The scanner settings are excellent, offering a choice of output, such as pdf, jpeg, etc, at various dpi's. You can scan from your PC, or from the printer to your PC, to a network folder or straight to e-mail without using a PC - very useful. You can set up various e-mails, handy for an office. You can also scan double sided documents from the feeder.

Copying is pretty much like printing, with a fast scanner. You can copy single to single, or single to double sided, or double sided to single. You use the touch panel on the front to set the parameters, then off you go.

The computer software is good, You can set all sorts, including switch on & off times, by day of the week - handy for offices. It's internet connected, so you can print to it whilst out and about using HP's email. It also works with Google Cloud print and uses AirPrint so IPhones & Ipads can print to it.

In the office, you can print to it via the wi-fi network, to which the computer is joined at set-up, or you can print direct using the printers very own wf-fi.
