4.0 out of 5 stars over 100 ordered in total 11 Jun 2013
By User86
I have now ordered roughly in the region of 120 of these printers over the past 6 months for our business use. They are good quality printers with only 1 failure out of them all. This was power damaged upon arrival, this was quickly exchanged.
We use the printers for multiple purposes and the failure rate of units out in the field is also very low. These are great printers considering the price and multiple abilities. such as wireless printing, internet printing, USB printing, duplexing and send/recieve faxes.
Overall these are reliable printers with a wide variety of printing options and an extensive menu for configuration and troubleshooting. The cartridges are well priced and HP are very helpful when it comes to issues.
Only issue was a starter pack of ink would not work, HP sent replacements within 1 week.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mini office. 8 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase
I bought this product as a straight replacement for my previous all-in-one printer. It is much quieter than my previous printer and the automatic document feed is much better. It does not have any card reader slots and the print speed is slightly slower than my previous printer. Overall it is a moderate improvement over my previous printer.

4.0 out of 5 stars HP Officejet 6700 Premium 10 Jan 2014
By Oli
My old HP finally died on me. It had been a faithful friend for 10 years so when it died I didn't know whether to take it to the tip or bury it in the back garden!

Anyway, I researched new all-in-one's - I specifically needed the print and scan functions, copy to a lesser degree and fax hardly at all. There were some good options - Epson & Canon have some good machines but I opted for HP for a number of reasons:

1. HP are very good for the home business user. Epson are more for colour/photo printing and Canon too.
2. My previous machine was HP and I was very happy with them as a brand.

The HP 6700 looked very similar to my old machine and I was very happy with the ink usage so I bought one from my local office supplies store - I simply couldn't wait the several daya it would take for Amazon to deliver and the price difference was only 10.

The initial set up of the printer is very easy, but also a potential banana skin, so listen up. Follow the 'Quick Guide' to the letter!! Do not do anything unless this tells you to. For example, after removing the various bits that were taped up you're supposed to plug it in and switch it on. So, do exactly that - do not attach it to your computer yet in other words!! The machine goes through its initial setting up phase and this takes a while and it makes a few odd noises. But just let it get on with it. The instructions on the printers colour panel are fairly clear so just follow them, clicking 'Next' when necessary.

Eventually you need to insert the software CD that comes with it in your PC and I chose to go for the web-based set up rather than the CD based set up. This was very easy and again, just follow the on screen instructions for when to connect the printer to your PC.

I've had the printer a week or so now and it's driving me crazy. The set-up was fine and apparently trouble free but 90% of the time, the printer refuses to connect to my computer. My wireless router is about 12 inches away from the printer so it's not a question of a lack of wireless signal, but most of the times I send a document to print I get a 'Printer Offline' message. If I cancel the print job and and re-send a couple of times, it occasionally works. More often than not I have to re-start the printer to get it to connect to the computer. I have no idea what the print quality, ink life etc. is like as I haven't been able to get it to print often enough. If I can't get this fixed I'm sending it back.

Update:After many email exchanges and an hour and a half on the phone to HP we finally got the printer to connect wirelessly. The HP people were very helpful but it's really not acceptable that I needed to go through all this just to get the printer to work. Now the printer drops the wireless connection whenever it's idle for any length of time and I have to manually enter the network key which is very tedious. This despite the fact that my router is literally 12 inches away from the printer. I'm going to have to get a USB cable, which rather defeats the idea of buying a wireless printer. Other problems? The printer often just prints out half a page rather than the whole document. And the printer regularly goes through a cycle of internal grinding and clunking which means it can't be used for several minutes. I would return it but I can't be without a printer and i also ordered a load of spare ink cartridges which I probably wouldn't be able to return. Conclusion?

I have had to send this back because not only was my one producing streaky prints, it became clear very quickly that the yellow ink runs out faster than the rest. Once one ink runs out the printer won't operate. This means HP have you just where they want you. The fact that you can't print coloured files in greyscale also means you soon run out of ink. This is not mentioned in any of the information accompanying the printer. The air printing works ok but there are better options out there. There are hundreds of people on the HP forum complaining about the same issues. I'm not buying HP again.

Must have printed a few pages of black writing, within 6 months there is no ink left in all the cartridges, google it. You can't even print in black only to save money.
