This is my second wireless printer, the last one being a Lexmark, which broke after 18 months and was not economic to repair.

The HP6410 I found to be far more reliable than my old Lexmark and a little more compact.

The HP6140 can connect either wireless, USB, Ethernet and Bluetooth.

Fax, scan, print, copy and best of all it has a 250 sheet paper tray as opposed the, circa, 100 sheet tray many of its rivals use

The unit takes 1 x colour & 1 x Black and white cartridge. Initially it appeared to drink ink, however if you buy the XL size cartridge and adjust the print setting to normal or draft use the ink will last as long as most any other ink jet printer out there based on the same settings.

Print quality is very good in black & white and colour, text or photo. You can also buy a photo ink cartridge to swap out for the black cartridge for better photo quality.

There is a memory card reader, however I have not used this feature.

The document feeder works well and I cannot remember when the unit last jammed.

The software supplied is comprehensive and whilst, due to the size, took a while to load all installed with out fault and connectivity to my computer went well.

Print speed is quick and the unit is quite

All in all this is the compact, large paper capacity; wireless all in one printer I had been looking for

Having previously had a Brother multi function printer, I was impressed with the print speed of the HP. The printer is larger than I expected, but not too big to look out of place in my home office. Straight out of the box, it was easy to assemble and the suppiled ink cartridges were simply installed.

I chose to setup using the wireless link. The supplied installation CD took some time to install all the associated software. I had to disable the windows firewall before my computer could recognise the wireless printer, other than that, everything went smoothly.

Printing on the HP is fast and quiet. There is some noise as the paper feeders adjust themselves, but otherwise very quiet. This was my main gripe with other printers, as I had to pause the print jobs whilst on the phone.

HP supply two ink cartridges with the printer, a black and a colour. It will be interesting to see how long they last. Previously, my printer used a separate cartridge for each colour, thereby minimising any loss. This is not an option with the HP, so will wait to see how much colour will be wasted when another colour runs out.

I tested the copy and scan functions. The automatic sheet feeder is a little slow but you have the option to scan to PDF, JPEG or TEXT which is useful.

Overall, very happy so far. I'd higly recommend if you want a fast, quiet mutli-function printer for less that £100.

Hmmm - well, on balance of the reviews, I chose this product. It arrived, and the first thing that wound me up was it was a different colour to that advertised. I decided to live with it, and get on with installing it - which is where the real trouble began. It took a solid 8hrs of trying, reinstalling, downloading "extra" bits, being online to a US operative, being on the phone to several other operatives before finally I managed to get the damned thing working (the problem eventually being solved by a kindly bloke from my modems' company who obviously took pity in response to the hopeless desperation in my voice). HP did not help me one bit.

Eventually up and running as a wireless printer, it worked fine, but would take itself offline all the time, and without any easy button, or "click here" function to put it back online, I have finally succumbed to sticking the USB cable in and using it plugged in all the time. Being wireless was one of the primary reasons I chose this printer so not entirely satisfied.

It was also advertised as a quiet machine. I have never had a noisier printer, and it rattles the bookcase on which it sits alarmingly every time it prints.

As a printer, the quality is fine - but then I would expect that with a printer. I haven't yet tested the fax

The printer/scanner/copier is good. It does tend to drink coloured ink a bit, but it produces very good quality documents, including photos.

The instructions for set up leave something to be desired. Completely unclear how to network via ethernet and I still can't get the fax to work. I do have it set up wirelessly on my home wireless network, but I think I only managed that fairly easily because I set it up on a Macbook. The instructions for wireless set up on a PC looked horrible.

One warning. The HP software is excellent on Mac, but causes all sorts of conflicts with my PCs running Windows XP.

Printer arrived in good time and shape. Setup is relatively straightforward however I didn't like the software bundle installation process. I installed it on 3 machines and installed without issues on only one of them. The other two reported errors that wouldn't tell you what happened and just uninstalled the whole thing. The printer in itself is brilliant but I'm not giving it 5 stars just because of the software - please note the bundle in itself is very useful once you get it installed and yes I had disabled AV, FW, and everything that could affect it ;-)
