Got this because I wanted to produce professionally looking CDs for a multimedia application program I wrote. It really puts the icing on the cake. Real easy to set up and use. Software that comes with it is Nero, so I was well used to using this program, but it just gets easier. There are various times to lazer printing a disc dependent on how much goes on to it and the quality of the burn. I recomend using the highest quality and letting it run in the back ground whislt you work away on the computer or watch the tele. It took about half and hour with one fairly large image and quite a bit of text. Very good value for money.

Six years ago, I bought an external Sony DVD writer for £200, which has now finally given up the ghost after me hammering it relentlessly with almost daily use.

I was astonished to see this HP device for this price. It's well built (not as nice as the Sony though) and painless to use. It burns my DVD+R's at 18x (about 5 mins for a couple of gig). The lightscribe feature creates sweet looking discs to amaze and astonish your friends, although be prepared to go have your dinner while it etches away for half an hour.

It comes with Nero 7 burning software which, according to the internet, is the last version worth having before it became riddled with bloat. It's a comprehensive package, which includes burning video and data to DVDs and CDs, ripping data from existing (unprotected) DVDs, building DVDs with menu hierarchies, label and disk designing and backing up of files which span multiple disks. I found the software painless to install and a doddle to use.

I cannot recommend this package enough. Forty quid well spent and a happy customer. Let's hope it lasts as long as my Sony did.

Does exactly what is says on the tin, very well. No setup problems, Lightscribe works a treat, but it's no lightweight - I bought this to use with a Samsung netbook but wouldn't want to carry it around! Since I'll never need to carry it around, not a problem. Very pleased and great value.

I ordered this dvd burner when the built in one on my pc stopped working for some reason that escapes me and this external burner worksfine. It includes litescribe which I havnt fathomed out how to use yet, but at 76 years old it takes me longer to find my way around this technology. I suspect I need another driver or something. I will figure it all out later I hope.
