The 4 separate ink cartridges are a good idea, but I've found that as soon as one runs out the others run out very quickly afterwards.

Installs easily, which I've found with other HP printers as well.

A bit noisy and clunky, especially when starting up and inbetween print jobs.
The printing of documents is fast though.

The printer arrived within a few days, & I like its layout. Its a bit frustrating working out how you wish to operate it. There is a great deal about using it with wireless in the instructions, whereas my former printer worked off my broadband connection immediately. As a result it took me longer to instal it. Furthermore it also included a short wire with a 2-pin plug on its end & I'm still trying to work out what its for & where it goes! The problem was the multitude of papers included, mostly containing every language bar English, & none showing the aforementioned wire & plug!
However trial printing has produced acceptable colour prints, so I'm fairly satisfied.

Since I got my first 'desk top' computer which came with a HP printer more years ago than I care to remember I have always been a dyed in the wool HP Owner.

Even though my last home printer (HP 5510) left a lot to be desired (couldn't give you one good trait about the machine) I still purchased the HP 6100 for my new office printer when my 5 year old HP Deskjet 1000 died.

Let's NOT discuss the Ink cartridges which do about 1/10th of what I got from my 1000 (and that machine only cost be £49.99)

Let's also NOT discuss the clattering and resettling which goes on AFTER you've printed (it thinking about printing before it prints I can understand, but what exactly is it doing afterwards?) it moves it's printer heads back and fourth after you've printed at least once and today it did it for so long and so many times I decided there must be something seriously wrong with the machine.

Let's talk about the 'paper empty' pronouncement you get when the tray still has paper in it, or the drag marks you get on your piece of paper it obvioulsy hadn't got the strength to drag out of its tray onthe first attempt (exactly the same paper I've always used, and used perfectly happily with my five year old 1000).... worn out cork pads already? I haven't even finished the installation inks (and we all know how quickly they disappear.)

If I could buy a Deskjet 1000 I would buy it today

If I need to buy another printer in the near future (I Can see this one being replaced before the guarantee is up!) I wouldn't touch HP with a barge pole

It worked on day one, then it went to melt down. Lights flashed. HP now has poor or zero helpline or instant message help. This is very poor for such a firm. This will go back now, and I would advise you AVOID this! The manuals sent are huge, and of very little help. Frustrating and slow in terms of service. It only did 19 letters so a rip off. Now how to return? You can get some online help, but it will cost you. I wonder if they only want you to sign up to make any cash. Faulty goods in our view! 1/10

Had this for three months and it has developed fault after fault; not what you expect from HP. The ink is eye-wateringly expensive.
