Product Description

Ella Edmondson is a contemporary singer songwriter based on Dartmoor in Devon. She has been playing her trade around the UK for a few years, whilst honing her performing and song writing skills. Ella has recently finished recording her debut album `Hold Your Horses' produced by Andy Seward (Kate Rusby, Roddy Womble, Eddi Reader). The album includes stunning performances from a host of award winning UK folk musicians, who between them have been largely responsible for the enormous popularity of the genre today. Guest Appearances include John McCusker, Kate Rusby, Andy Cutting and Jim Causley.
`Hold Your Horses' includes the track `Breathe', which was originally recorded for the BBC in 2007 by John McCusker and Andy Seward. It was featured on the program `Jam and Jerusalem', written by her mother Jennifer Saunders. The track also received plenty of attention from Mike Harding at BBC Radio 2.

This being her debut album, it would be fair to say that ALL Ella's experience to date has been gained on the road, performing with many great names of today and yester-year. Ella has already shared the stage with such legends as Midge Ure, Martin Carthy, Jaqui McShee's Pentangle, and Jools Holland. Of today's rising stars the likes of Julie Fowlis and Rachel Unthank have also recently requested Ella open for them.

I was listening to Radio 2 a couple of months ago and Ella's Dad was being interviewed and was talking about his daughter. Adrian Edmondson introduced Ella's album and the 8th track 'Hunger'and I liked what I heard. I bought the cd through Amazon a couple of weeks back and have loved listening to the whole album ever since. In particular I love the cd title song 'Hold your horses'. Ella is a very accomplished singer song-writer and has been touring the country. I like her work. Her voice is very distinctive, haunting at times. And gosh, does she look like her Mum!

I had the pleasure to see Ella perform at Lime Tree Festival and albeit brief, Ella & Buddy delivered a stunning performance in one of the more intimate tents.

A soft mix of modern folk blended with a haunting voice.
When so many artist blend in to "norm" its great to find one that stands apart from the crowd and with good reason.

Live or recorded, Ella Edmondson is an artist to watch out for.

I like this CD very much. Folllowing a concert I saw at The Castle, Wellingborough, I was pleased to track it down. Her voice is strong, with a good catch to it and the country/folk backing style is right up my street. I shall look out for more of her CDs.

Having heard several songs by Ella Edmondson, I could only guess as to how wonderful this album will be. She has been touring in England, and I'm shocked that she has gotten this album out as soon as this. Last month she was still working on this CD, and now it is due to be released. Congratulations Ella! Great job. I hope the Monsoon lable releases another "Monsoon family" album. Perhaps this one featuring a thrash mandolin, and some other odd instruments. Give my luck to the Bad Shepherds.

This is my new favourite album... Each song is a creative masterpiece full of uniquely brilliant vocals, stunning lyrics and beautiful, spine tingling music... I recommended for anyone who appreciates "stand out from the crowd" music to buy this album - and to play it loud enough to savour the astonishingly wonderful music... I can't wait to hear more of Ella's brilliance...

This is one of my favourite albums of 2009 so far. The songs are all beautiful, as is her voice. I was lucky enough to see her perform at London's Borderline last week. Apparently it was her first proper gig as the main artist, though I'd never have guessed it from her assured and faultless performance. My favourite tracks on the album are probably "Hold Your Horses" and Hunger, though there really isn't a weak track on the album.
