Book Description

The horse’s hooves and the coach’s wheels, clattered along the hard, dusty road and occasionally a full moon slipped out from behind dark clouds. Jack slowed the coach as they approached a densely wooded area. The road was winding and Jack did not fancy driving the coach and horses into the trees. Suddenly, he saw an intermittent light. For a few moments could not quite make out what it could be, it being a little way away. Slowing the team even more, he peered into the darkness. “Who’s there?” he called as loud as he could, “Come on, show yourself.”
There was no reply, and Jack pulled the horses to a stop. Something was bothering him, though if anyone asked, he could not have said what or why.
The light still shone intermittently, though it seemed to be coming closer. It could not have been a coach; it was too dark displaying only one weak light. There was a pistol shot and Jack nearly fell out of the seat. “Stand and deliver,” a voice called.

About me:
I was born in a severe snowstorm in the wilds of the Peak District.
(Not out in the elements of course, we did have a roof over our heads.)
In 1988, I met the love of my life, a lass from the beautiful land of Wales and we have been together now for 23 years. We don't have any children but we have a border terrier who we do treat like a child, however we draw the line in making him wear clothes...except when it's raining when he dons a little yellow (builder's type) waterproof coat.
Now that we have retired (retired!!!What's that?)we have invested in a touring caravan and we spend a lot of the year travelling the highways and byways of Great Britain, discovering some very beautiful spots.

5.0 out of 5 stars " UNPUTDOWNABLE"!!!!!!! 6 Sept. 2012
By Wilde
Format:Kindle Edition
Another wonderful historical epic from the fervent imagination of Lee Richardson. But where "PICKIT" was a fast paced romp, this is a more measured and mature affair, which brings to life an exciting and at times disturbing picture of 18th Century England , teeming with rich and believable characters. But it is in his hero, the eponymous "Highwayman" that the author excels - a charming adventurer - but flawed, with a dark( and indeed, vicious) side. The fact that he carries his readers along with this rogue is tribute to the warmth and humour of his writing - but also to the fantastic wealth of adventures and action, in the marvellously realised period setting of this terrific story. It begins, vividly, at the gallows - and ends.....well, - you have GOT to read this fantastic book to find out! It kept me up all night... An absolute cracker.!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming 14 April 2014

I found this book an enjoyable read. The writer seems to have her own way of setting out a story that was different and quite engaging. I will certainly look out for her books in the future. Happy reading.

Good yarn. Picked up some historical knowledge of the times. Bit light-weight in places. Do I want to read more by same author? Not that bothered
