When Keegan finally gets away from his brutal mother on his sixteenth birthday, things go from bad to strange as his father picks up a hitchhiker in the desert during their escape.

The strangeness of the day gets scary as Keegan notices the hitchhiker’s odd behavior. But with Keegan’s failing memory and bizarre dreams of a red wind, he can’t be sure about what his father’s gotten them in to as they make their way to the creepy Arizona town of Sedonia Falls.

This is the first episode of a five-part serial.

More About the Author

BORN JUST outside of Gunnison, Colorado in a government research facility called Area 52.5, (truth be told, Mom, a government astrophysicist, was in her last trimester at Area 51 when she was abruptly transferred), Jax Spenser spent his early years wondering if Dad was the meek and mild-mannered man living at home or if he really existed in the distant twinkle of a far off alien's gaze.

AFTER AN AWAKENING during his teen years (some would call it puberty packing a lead pipe), Jax spent the rest of his life filled with the absolute belief that not only was the truth out there but that his real father looked proudly down on him in hopes that his baby boy Jax would one day find his way back to whatever distant corner of the Universe Pops beamed in from. Until that day, Jax has dedicated his time to writing possible scenarios in which the two might one day meet again.

Literally could not stop reading HIDE once I picked it up. Totally intrigued to see where Jax Spenser takes the next installment! The complexity of the characters relationships and the appearance of these mysterious strangers kept me wanting to turn the pages. Where have these guys ended up? Who are these strangers? Jax, you have me hooked! I would totally recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fast pace read with characters that really get your attention. Roll on the next installment!!

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as a Twilight Zone! 22 Sept. 2014
By Ty Shiver - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Wow! I was pulled in from the first line. I flew through the first installment in one sitting; I couldn't stop reading! Keegan is a young man, suffering from the abuse of his mother and enduring a father who looks the other way, but the moment his dad picks up a hitchhiker on the run — things get weird. This was like an episode of The Twilight Zone! I can't wait for the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jax Spencer, what have you done to me? ... 13 Sept. 2014
By Richard A. Varga - Published on
Jax Spencer, what have you done to me? I needed to read this series in a binge weekend rather than have to wait for the next installment! I read Untethered in quick sitting and was immediately engrossed in the inner thoughts and dialogue of young Keegan. This is a young man coming to terms with a very difficult and admittedly troubling situation and it makes for a dynamic character whose world is about to get even more strange. This is a solid debut from an author with an abundance of stories to tell

4.0 out of 5 stars Frightful and thought provoking 15 Sept. 2014

Hide Untethered by: Jax Spencer
Hide is a very quick-paced short story that will leave you wondering.
Keegan, a terribly abused young man, seems to have been rescued by
his father. But was he really rescued? Keegan's dad, Billie Roe, seems
to be a bit different than the normal dad. . .
Their cross country journey is filled with twists and turns, and suspenseful
A very well written story - kudos to Mr. Jax Spencer, for a terrific first book.
Looking forward to more from his series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets you involved, picky book reader is thrilled. 20 Sept. 2014

It's always a crapshoot when it comes to new authors and books. But this one is a gem and I cannot wait for the follow up. As an avid book reader, I am picky about good prose but I was pleasantly suprised to find Mr. Spencer's style is clean, clear, concise, yet exciting. We know what is happening in a general way, but the story flows with overtones of mystery and suspense. A great start, keep it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! What a suspenseful book. 17 Sept. 2014
By Kelly Sattler - Published on
Wow! What a suspenseful book. Hide is intriguing and suspenseful. I was hooked from the very beginning and can't even imagine going through the things that Keegan has been through and I can only hope that things get better for him soon. First I felt bad for Keegan and now I'm just scared for him. I cant wait for the next book so that I can find what happens.
