Book Description

1 Feb 2011
"Herold: Internal Medicine" is a lecture oriented representation taking account of the topic catalogue for the medical examination for physicians. It is one of the leading textbooks of internal medicine in Germany, if not the leading one. Its enormous popularity is based on the facts that it represents the topics of internal medicine in an accurate and systematic form and that it has been updated every year since 1982. 5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect 25 Jun 2011
By Okatcha
Format:Paperback
Hey,
this book is a perfect fit as a small but up to date clinical book.
It covers all the fundamentally important aspects of internal medicine in the clinical context.
Of course it doesn't have as much background info as the "Harrison's Internal Medicine" but it is still more than sufficient for the daily exams of a medical student.
In German-speaking countries it is the most important internal medicine book for doctors as well as advanced students which is updated each year. Without any exaggeration, it is therefore often called "the bible of internal medicine" in colloquial language.

As usual it has always some areas which could be described a little better but the authors are mostly open for useful information and various advises.

3.0 out of 5 stars poor printing quality 15 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Pros - the information in this book is very handy and it's written in a convenient way.

Cons - poor printing quality of many diagrams and schemes! giving me the feeling like the book is a beta edition, with some words typing mistakes and i found in one place not translated abbreviation from German language, and it seems like in some cases some text is not professionally organized to fit the page. All of this quite disappointing!

***EDIT: i got a full refund for the book (from the reseller "The Book Depository") as apparently it was due to "a faulty batch" ***

3.0 out of 5 stars Herold IM 21 Jan 2013
By Vika - Published on Amazon.com

Books seems good as far as material presented is concerned. Printing isn't so good, but just enough to be able to read. Was surprised NOT to find any section on NEUROLOGY, DERMATOLOGY, ALLERGY & IMMUNOLOGY and some stuff about EMERGENCY MEDICINE. And no diagrams/figures.
1.0 out of 5 stars garbage 3 Jan 2013

While this could be an excellent textbook as far as it's content goes, the printed copies I received are barely readable as they are printed with dot matrix looking letters: you can see the dots making up the letters.

I think it is a disgrace selling such inferior product. I feel cheated out of my money. I bought it online, and was brought to me overseas, and now I am stuck with this garbage.

A raw deal! Beware!
