I know this kind of review (customer service centered) is controversial but I think in this case it's an important one.
This is a good USB deck. Clean design, tactile controls, jog wheels small but adequate, a moderate amount of fiddling to get it up and running with the latest version of Traktor but acceptable.
9 months after buying it (and therefore also 9 months into the supplied 2 year warranty), it broke. It barely left my desk in those 9 months since I use a different setup out and about and, while I didn't exactly hold back on the vigorous slider use, it was some kind of internal electrical fault. Anyway, I tested it on 3 different computers on a variety of different cables before contacting Hercules support but they put me through the usual copy-paste charade anyway (nothing against them for that, who doesn't treat their customers like idiots these days?)
After we'd exchanged 10 emails, they agreed that it was broken and told me to contact the retailer. That's where the problems started because they were an independent seller who had since given up and disappeared. I contacted Hercules and explained the situation to which they said that I had to have a "explicit refusal" on the part of the retailer before they would act on the warranty at their end. After a month of regular emails to Hercules and trying all the contact methods I had available for the seller on a daily basis, I decided to give up. I told Hercules support about this and received the same response as before: that they weren't going to replace it on the manufacturer's warranty.
Anyway, 9 months after I bought it, it rests in a landfill somewhere despite the 2 year warranty that helped sell it to me in the first place. A terrible experience that I thought I would share as a warning of what could just happen to you. Very disappointing given that the deck is actually of a good quality.
