Having read the other review about needing a CRT PC Monitor to set up a PS3 HDMI output (which in my case had defaulted to 576i), I was also not able to get a picture directly on my Toshiba ET1 video projector until first connecting the PS3 via the HD Fury to an old CRT VGA monitor for the setting up the PS3 HDMI output. This is a PS3 AV tip, not an HD Fury fault - but hopefully useful to folk who are also interested in purchasing an HD Fury, and would have similar trouble setting it all up to VGA from HDMI.
Also be aware that out of the box that the connection on the HD Fury is not actually HDMI but DVI-D, requiring me to by another accessory (an HDMI male to DVI-D male Belkin 16' cable) before I could even get around to testing the HD Fury. I have marked it down as it was a misleading product description, and I was annoyed at the delay in not being able to use it out of the box. As the price of some £70 is high for the HD Fury in my opinion, and I was without any other options at Amazon for something that would enable my current AV setup to work (currently no HDMI inputs on monitors, TVs or projectors), it was for me still a necessary purchase and is reccomended as it does seem to get a content protected HDMI Blu Ray movie to a VGA only display.
The pictures from BluRay movies off the PS3 are now playing at 720p on my Toshiba ET1 projector via the routing:
PS3 console
HDMI to DVI-D cable (purchased seperately on Amazon)
HD Fury
VGA to VGA mini extender cable (supplied with HD Fury)
Toshiba projector
