I was very skeptical about this cable, but it actually works really well for what it is.
Mic on one end, usb into garageband and decent sound recorded with no hassle - for grab and go home recordings it's great.

For being a cable I didn't expect much, but this has no issues!
It has a l.e.d, letting you know if your PC can pick it up and drivers came
IN the cable!
A must if you want a xlr to usb!!!

I purchased this as a quick way of connecting my DI box to my Mac so i would be able to record straight into the computer, Upon setting it all up and making all the necessary adjustment to remove hums i noticed a un relenting amount of white nose added to my tracks... i gradually began unplugging units to try and identify the cause and eventually arrived at this cable. With everything else off a Logic drawing audio from the cable (now disconnected from the DI) the noise was still present, not only that but there was an annoying beep ocuring each time the light flashed. I can't record any music as the noise generated through this lead are unbearable.

I had no idea something as simple as this was out there. I was very sceptical about it working at all, but it's actually perfect. I have an old iMac I use for Google Hangouts and Skype and it just plugged my SM58 Mic right into the XLR and it worked right away. You get a USB PnP Sound Device in your Sound Preferences pane with an input gain and an Output level slide controller. No extra drivers needed on Mac OS X 10.9.5.

This unit seems to be available under different brand names. I tried this one because it seemed to have better reviews than the cheapest one. It has the same issue. The recording quality is decent but with a dynamic microphone it doesn't have enough gain, leading to hissy recordings. It seems to work OK with an electric guitar, using a suitable adapter and with the recording level turned down to 10% (but that's not what I bought it for).

Very Happy.
