Just bought this H7 and the T7 for late night dog walking in the coming winter months..... The H7 is comfortable to wear and easily adjustable. And because you wear it on your head - it really spooks the animals and people you happen to come across. Good torch, great visibility and flexibility in terms of beam adjustment, just not too sure about the robustness of the wire around the head-band. Only one major gripe.... why do manufacturers insist on skimping on the size of the carrying pouch? For the sake of another 5mm length of neoprene it now means that I won't try and stuff it back into the pouch from whence it came and risk damaging the wire around the headband, no pouch means no advertising for the manufacture and a lack of protection for my otherwise nifty torch.... Hence 4 out 5 stars!

I am amazed at the power of this neat head torch. I got it for dog walking in the dark, and have found it to be excellent - surpassing my expectations. I have used it in badly rutted fields, heavy woods and on wet muddy tracks. These are all hazardous in the black dark, but now the path (as well as hazards such as head level branches) is illuminated as if it's daytime.
The torch has a powerful LED bulb/chip which is enhanced by a very clever lens. You can alter it from a fairly wide spot to a narrow focus which projects a long way into the distance.
To me, the result is more like a theatrical spotlight than a conventional torch. Even on the wide focus there is a bright area of illumination with a definite rim and black dark outside. This is important as it means you can approach people of cars without blinding them, just by directing the spot to one side.
The rechargeable version is definitely worth the extra money. I love the fact you just stick the charger plug into the torch to recharge the battery unit. I have not had it long enough to say for certain how long the battery lasts (I use it on full power, but you can also dim it to conserve battery life), but it will also take standard batteries so if you are on a long hike you can cope.
It's well balanced and comfortable, and the adjustable beam angle means it is easy to get it into a position to suit your terrain and allow you to maintain good head posture.
As for the case - it goes in one way round with the battery pack at the bottom and the rest stuffed on top. It could be bigger, but it works. Maybe the tight ball, which you get when it's in the case, might actually give more protection to the wiring etc than a looser case.
To summarise, I find that nowadays it is not often a piece of kit really fulfills what it promises but this one does. Worth the money.

Purchased for this winter's early morning and late night dog walking over uneven unlit fields. Very light, very bright and seems quite sturdy. The carrying pouch that comes with it is far too small but that doesn't cause me to dock a star from my 5 star rating. It makes my big Maglite torch a complete waste of space and weight. The ability to angle it down to produce a 6' to 8' diameter bright pool of light right where you are about to walk is fanastic. The packaging says it provides 140 lumens when switched to full power and I believe it. Arrived very quickly and was well packed. Not cheap but below RRP and well worth the money.
