This book is a book of hilarious (well, hilarious to scientists anyway...) quotations. They are verbatim extracts from O-level (now GCSE) Chemistry papers. Nothing more, nothing less. The allusion to "1066 and all that" is simply that it's highly entertaining and about the same physical size! Contains no Bad Kings.
On H2O... "Pure water must contain hydrogen because oxygen would float away if it was not for hydrogen."
I lost my original copy many years ago through lending it and forgetting who to. It's taken ages to find another, but now they are popping up from second hand sellers for just pence. Just buy a copy, and enjoy (unless, of course, the selected quotations seem to make reasonable sense, in which case this probably isn't the book for you.)
