Cant remember the date but it was just before the falklands war - we were on our way to our holiday in Austria = we met and started talking to this guy who was in fact George Mack (the author) - he promised to send me a signed copy of his book and low and behold about one month later there it was. A fantanstic first hand account of life as a gunner on board the Intrepid in the second world war - with pics that come to life of his colleagues and the conditions endured aboard. I have since mislayed this book so this is why I have just purchased this copy. I do not know if George is still alive as I have not heard from him in a little while. A great book well worth the read.
