This album is compiled with a dance music sensibility and how 'traditional' or typically Balkan the tracks on it are is open to question (some feature drum machines, for instance). The Basement Jaxx remixes are also unremarkable, but for all that this is a fun, funky album that will make a good first foray into Balkan music for this who - like me - aren't familiar with it. Recommended.
