Product Description

Jungle-clad and teeming with exotic wildlife, Guyana is a South American secret begging to be told. With its unique geography of coastal waters, mangroves, marshes, savannas, mountains and tropical rainforests, it's an ideal match for adventure seekers and wildlife enthusiasts. Explore the interior's waterways from a dugout canoe, swim alongside a black caiman – the world's largest alligator, take in Amerindian culture at Surama, or spot one of Guyana's 800-plus birds. Fully updated, Bradt's second edition of Guyana provides all the practical and background information necessary to get the most from your trip – whatever your budget or time constraint.

A very well written and accesible travel book on Guyana. Full of good up to date information, well illustrated and not too expensive

A "Must Have" Read 3 Mar 2012

Really thorough and informative guide, if this doesn't get you excited about Guyana, nothing will. We didn't think there would be so much to do in this little known country. The history section is also very interesting. A word of warning though, don't think that because a certain trip is in the book that it will definitely go ahead. It's certainly not black and white and you do need to speak personally to someone there to get confirmation of details, but that's not the book's fault, just the way things are in Guyana. A highly recommended read!

Bought for my husband just as he was about to leave for Guyana. There seem to be very few guides available, but this purchase proved to be a good one as on his return yesterday, he commented that it was of enormous help in the 3 weeks he was in the country. A good update on the 1st issue that he already had and which had also proved very informative.
