It appeared that I was going to get a novel (novella really) about a gunboat in the Swedish/Russian at the start of the 19th Century.
Not knowing anything about that, sounds great so got the free Kindle book.
Hmm. Well, you do learn a bit about the time, but really, this is all about the sex.
Spoiler Alert!
Anna is a big disappointment to me. OK, she's a spy, so she uses sex. Fine. I get it - as old as spying history. But, casual sex with a group of Swedish sailors for no apparant reason? Disease and babies should be a big concern for a female spy 200 years ago. The really depressing thought is that Anna thinks that her body is her best weapon. Not her intelligence or ability to manipulate, it's all about the sex. As Bayushi Kachiko would say, if you have to give a man what he wants, you are an amateur. Those with skills get what they want, without paying the price.
If this is your cup of tea, go ahead and download and try the sequel. But, you can guess how Anna gets her frigate.
