Product Description

Presented by Oscar® Nominated Director Robert Altman (The Player, Gosford Park),this series follows the path of a handgun and the impact it has on the lives of those who encounter it. An all star cast and acclaimed writers and directors contribute a different story to each riveting episode. Follow these comical, tragic, tawdry and compelling tales of murder, adultery, betrayal and other sins all triggered, driven and sometimes resolved by the same handgun. Stars include James Gandolfini, Kirsten Dunst, Martin Sheen, Daryl Hanna, Jennifer Tilly, Rosanna Arquette, Randy Quaid, Sally Kellerman, Carrie Fisher and Daniel Stern ----------------------- Columbus Day: When forced to work nights, security guard Walter DiFideli buys a gun to protect his family. However, unbeknownst to Walter, the weapon once belonged to an assassin who will resort to any measure of force to recover the evidence that could incriminate him... All The President's Women: Bill Johnson is on the verge of realising a dream; the post of president of his Texas country club. Yet, in addition to his wife, Bill juggles a variety of mistresses, each unaware of the others, and all seems well until his current squeeze receives an unloaded gun in her mailbox. Further unnerved as his wife and another mistress receive the gun's clip and bullets respectively, Bill must piece together the mystery that threatens to wreck his inauguration party... The Hole: A gun lies buried at the bottom of a small town's swimming pool. To a group of young kids it looks like buried treasure and to Sandra, a young woman who dreams of leaving her abusive stepfather, it looks like her ticket out of town. Yet to James, a loner with a dark past, the gun is an object that he simply must recover as he placed it there years earlier and holds the key to a previous mystery... The Shot: Harvey packs up his family and moves them from Hollywood to a potentially more stable life in Virginia. His dreams of making it as an actor are seemingly over until he unwittingly foils a convenience store robbery and is cast to play himself in a movie of the incident. However, the would-be thieves have powerful friends who wish to permanently curtail Harvey's movie career and he finds that his 'shot' at fame is intrinsically linked to that particular weapon... Father John - An Article Of Faith: Newspaper columnist Jack returns to Los Angeles for the funeral of his uncle Father John Farragut. A lost opportunity 13 Dec 2009
Format:DVD
Whilst this series should have been great - some very well known names and a great concept - it just doesn't work for some reason. Don't know if it's the writing or the editing but, in my opinion, every show was a disappointment.

Not really sure what the previous reviewer watched but this is a great opportunity to see some great stars delivering a compelling series of interconnected stories. James Gandolfino was particularly good, as was Daryl Hannah.

Great, trashy fun w/ stellar cast 8 Dec 2005
By Travis Dubya McGee Bickle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
I bought this because it was on sale at Tower (for 15 bucks!), and because of the forementioned crew of top notch talent - the line-up in this thing is unbelievable - and was very pleasantly surprised. Very entertaining from start to finish, with some very clever twists.

If only I got such value for money every time I spent $15!

A rediscovered Gem! 24 April 2005
By Irwin Sirotta - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
it's amazing what used to be on TV. Had this production been circa 2005, we would only have this on HBO.

Can you imagine these stars on broadcast TV now? No way !!! Gandolfini; Quaid; Hannah; Tilly; Sheen ; et al. Are you Kidding?

From the opening scenes of a terrorist kissing his Magic Bullet to watching Randy Quaid being humbled by Ms. Hannah ( naked and handcuffed to a golf hole), this 6 part series has it all. Terrific acting; well thought out script and Ted Demme AND Robert Altman too?

this will be one of the better series you can watch this year. One can just picture David Chase watching episode one ( COLUMBUS DAY), and declaring loudly " That's my $%&*$&^ Tony Soprano!!

buy this immediately, and watch what quality television used to be, before the Bushies took over.

Enjoy GUN, over & over.
