This album rocks 28 Jan 2004
Format:Audio CD
If the Orchestra's eponymous first album was a restrained, but traditional big band sound, here Setzer pulls out all the stops and lets rip.

His guitar rightly takes centre stage on big stage faves such as This House is Rockin' Hoodoo Voodoo Doll and Stray Cats barnstormer Rumble in Brighton; but the whole band is right in there with him on numbers such as Ghost Radio and Johnny Kool (who resurfaces on the 68 CBS album 'Ignition'...).

Thsi album rocks rather than rolls, better for driving rather than dancing perhaps, but rather than just taking my word for it, buy it and listen to it!

If you have listened to BSOs other works such as the award winning dirty boogie and you fancy another blast of swing, boogie and good old rock n roll this will not disapoint. The only downside to the album is that the production is not as clean and crisp as you might expect. But do not let this minor fault and it is very minor put you off. This album is well worth the effort....

Setzer continues his 'here's another album with at least three classic songs to hear before you die'!!! On this fantastic album the best three are 'House is Rockin', 'Hoodoo Voodoo Doll' and a version of Brian's own 'Rumble in Brighton' which is actually better than his Stray Cats original!!! There's also another Stray Cat number which is pretty fine and that's 'That Mellow (Wild) Saxophone'. Altogether, yet another Brian Setzer record that should be added to your collection. Lucky USA as the BSO have just finished another xmas concert tour! His cds are the next best thing to seeing the man and his Gretsch '59 live.
