Vince Gill has been around for a very long time and his voice is still as beautiful as it was at the start. A great voice and a great guitarist and a great selection of songs make this one fo the best albums of 2011. Guitar Slinger is a guitar driven rollicking opener......threaten me with heaven is a beautiful ballad showcasing Gill at his best ...........true love a great duet with his wife Amy grant.......so many highlights ......make this a really enjoyable album and a great addition to the Gill catalogue.......worth buying the deluxe edition to have 15 songs......one of the best releases of 2011......modern country music at its best........excellent......highly recommended.....

I love this album. There are tracks on here which will have you enthralled. There may be nothing here which surprises but that is no bad thing. Doing something well - with real depth of feeling - still works for me.

It's always nice to sometimes spin something different than my beloved 60's/70's British blues/prog and ECM jazz. By accident I heard Vince(and some notable others) in mid 90's when the CMT was available in Europe on cable tv. I've been tracing his career ever since and stopped buying his records with excellent High Lonesome Sound. The Guitar Slinger is worth the loooong wait.I am not too much fond of the Lynne-like wall of sound but the quality of songs and musicianship makes me forget about it.Also,I am happy to note that Vince does not stick to the Strat sound in extenso(Eric from Surrey,will you follow???).He knows how to and he can squeeze more juice from heavier guitars :-)

Strongly recommended not only to country fans!
