While a guitar slide should be a weapon found in any guitarist's arsenal, there seems to be a distinct lack of easy-to-understand information on how to get started. Our 3 page guide gives you all the basics to ensure that you set off on the right foot. Guitar slides can make a great gift for a guitarist, but unless they know how to get started, it'll likely end up in a drawer!
You don't need to be a virtuoso to ustilise a guitar slide well - in many cases, less is more! Just the odd little guitar slide 'lick' here and there (even just one every 16 bars or so) in the odd song can be a really neat touch which just makes that bit of difference between you and so many other 'same old' players.
Which one should I buy?
This may sound like a cop-out, but its impossible to say. Some people like to use their middle finger (where a longer slide makes sense) and some prefer to use their little finger (where a short one makes sense). The only real way is to try 2 or 3 and see which you prefer.
Glass or Steel?
Again, maybe sounds like a cop-out, but its down to the individuals taste. For a warm and smooth sound, go for a Pyrex Glass slide, or for a brighter and more metallic sound, go for a metal slide. One thing is for sure - any slide is better than no slide if you're trying it out for the first time!
