Sherman Robertson initially learned his craft from the great Albert Collins (the original big dog). When the latter caught him spying on rehersals through a knot hole at the tender age of 13 he insisted that the boy come back later that day for a lesson. Albert must have seen the inherent qualities in Sherman, because he continued those lessons and told Sherman that one day he could be a big dog too. That time has certainly arrived now and on this CD you can hear echoes of Albert as well as Sherman's other influences, the orginal blues greats - the 3 Kings. The sheer forcefulness of his presence on stage to some extent belies the sophistication of his playing, but over all of that there is the man's voice. What a great blues voice!

You really need to experience the Serminator live if you can to understand what his take on the blues is all about, and I urge you to do so if you get the chance. For those that cannot, this is the next best thing - a great live recording of the man himself in action.

Useful Souvenir 15 Jan 2010
Format:Audio CD
Plenty of Sherman playing guitar, which is always a good thing. The sound is very 'live' but it's still no substitute for being at one of his gigs.
