Fun:

I was a bit unsure whether to purchase this game initially, other than "jump" i could not instantly recall any other Van Halen tunes. A quick look at the "guest" list and i was keen to give it a try... I was not disappointed!
This game is one of the best presented of the Guitar Hero line, I have all of the others except one, I had previously purchased Aerosmith (being a huge fan) and was upset at a huge missed opportunity, not so here. If you are a fan of VH then this is a must, if you are not a fan, like me, then there are enough rock tunes to satisfy your guitar hero lust, this is equal in my opinion to World Tour and Metallica versions, but with better presentation, the skill levels are on a par with those two releases as well, Guitar Hero 5 was slightly harder i found. I personally cannot get enough of the whole line of GH games, and i purchased this via Amazon getting a huge saving from the price in stores! So what are you waiting for... buy and enjoy NOW.

I bought this game expecting a so so title, especially not being really familiar with van halen. But i was very pleasently surprised by how much fun i've had with the title! I felt a little burned out after working my way through GH: metallica, it being such a serious moody music title. Van halen is totally different it never felt like a slog to play and I never ceased to have a smile on my face (even when faced with the epic solos i couldn't help but laugh without feeling any frustration)

My one critiscism would be that contrary to what the box says, this is NOT the most challenging guitar hero. yes, the solos are challenging, but I can get through most of the songs on expert without going into the red, and i'm not that great a player. for a real challenge get GH: greatest hits or metallica (which i'm fairly certain on expert will melt the guitar...)

I had mixed expectations of this game before i purchased it, but i was not disappointed. The overall Van Halen experience on the game is brilliant, and the extra artists included are brilliant. I highly recommend this game.
