(REAL NAME)
I bought this book from amazon and found it to be very interesting but also lacking in some places - it did feature the well known guitar players and various styles, but because of the limitations of book and size, I was disapointed that there were only a few words on people like 'Gary Moore' and no real mention of 'Chris Rea' and others - sadly the book is now stuck in a drawer somewhere and perhaps I should of saved my self the cost of buying it, but it seemed a good idea at the time.
So yes to recap it is well put together book featuring a journey through guitar music / styles and players, so as a reference book it may hold some answers for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliantly written and observed source of inspiration., 9 Nov 2000
For me this is a long awaited book in that it is the only work of significance to connect and critically explore the entire history of the development of all areas of guitar music through its performers. What's more it's been done by someone who is himself a virtuoso guitarist whose love of the guitar and its possibilities as an medium of emotional expression resonate throughout the pages of this book. That makes it much more than a book full of glossy pictures or a dry recital of facts. Rumour on the London jazz scene has it that Richard Chapman will be bringing out his own virtuoso guitar CD of improvised music next year which should make a lot of us who consider ourselves experts stand there with our mouths open. Let's hope it happens.
