Product Description

Product Description

The second instalment of the Guilty Pleasures series, Guilty Pleasures Rides Again, is packed with more of the same sweet sounds that have been hidden at the back of record collections for years. The 2CD set includes cheesy favourites such as Starlight Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight", Foreigner's "Cold As Ice", Kim Carnes' "Betty Davis Eyes" and, oh yes, David Soul's "Silver Lady".

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Inspired Collection!!! 30 Mar 2005
Format:Audio CD
Once again Sean Rowley & his team have saved many of us from the laborious,(& let`s face it nearly impossible)task,of trying to find old recordings of those cheesy, but nostalgic tunes from our youth to add to our collections. Here are more quality songs that we were all far too "Cool" to admit we loved at the time!!!He`s assembled them in a 2 CD offering that is "Guilty Pleasures 2".
As with the first Guilty Pleasures album,if you are of a certain age, these songs will all be very familiar to you,if not by their title, then certainly after the first few bars!
I`ts very hard to be critically objective about the quality of songs that instantly transport you back to your youth, & to start anylising each track here would be totally missing the point.
You either "get" the idea of these compilations,or you dont, but as far as I`m concerned, this is "Public Service Tune Compiling" at it`s very best!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily surpasses the first collection !! 4 April 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I was intrigued and delighted by the selection of tracks on the first Guilty Pleasures album, but GP: Rides Again easily surpasses it. Many of the tracks (such as Hall and Oates 'Rich Girl) still stand up well today. I have never been embarassed about what I like, but it's so great to hear these songs again. Well done for putting out a double CD collection.
Such gems as Player's 'Baby Come Back' and Fox's 'Single Bed' are there in all their cheesy glory. My personal favourite, Andrew Gold's 'Lonely Boy', was a very pleasant surprise.I have to thank Mr Rowley and co. for hunting down tracks that are, for most part, nearly obsolete or forgotten. Kudos also for choosing the album version over the single release. All I can say is bring on Guilty Pleasures III !!

5.0 out of 5 stars What's so 'cheesy' about this album, anyway? 20 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
For some time, I had been looking for one of my all time favourite tracks- "Moonlight feels right" by Starbuck. Imagine my delight to discover this album, containing so many other great songs! Is it just me? I was never ashamed to admit liking any of them and certainly don't regard them as "cheesy". It is simply a fantastic compilation which will transport anyone of my generation back to their teens again!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Too guilty to pleasure. 16 Nov 2005
Format:Audio CD
In no way as consice or as constistant as the first Guilty Pleasures compilation, this follow up seems rather bloated and in need of a diet.
There are some amazing songs on here; Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Gerry Rafferty, ELO, David Essex, Frankie Valli and Olivia Neewton John's 'If Not For You'. But the track listing is haphazard and sometimes unpleasant, with the seamless quality of the original comp being replaced for quantity over any sort of cohesion.
Hopefully there will be a third installment that puts the series back on track (my suggestions would have to be the ELO-offshoot Violinski, Paul McCartney's Bond Theme, Cliff Richard 'Wired for Sound' and The Sweet's 'Fox on the Run', I could go on but I won't). Come on Sean Rowley sort it out.
