4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed reviews 20 Jan. 2014

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
In GW1 I was mostly a pve player that dabbled a little in pvp. The storyline was good and the pve element of the game was fun... it was nicely balanced and when the skills and classes expanded the introduction of hardmode helped to keep it good.

GW2 I really struggle to enjoy the pve side of the game. It is stunningly beautiful and I like trying to climb up mountain peaks to enjoy the views beyond just the set vistas but the storyline just does not grab me. I found it difficult to play with other players and the lack of heros excluded me from many of the dungeons in the game that I have still to complete. The few dungeons that I have managed to get a group for have been fun and I guess if you find a regular dungeon running guild then the pve side of the game might become a lot more fun... but I think it might be difficult for a new player to become involved with this sort of game play this late on in the game's history.

BUT if I could write that BUT even bigger then I would... so lets just repeat if a couple of times for emphasis... BUT BUT BUT... the pvp side of GW2 is awesome... especially the wvw side of the game. This said the biggest problem I have with the wvw side of the game is that the majority of players do not play it properly. So you end up having to make some careful choices about which server you want to play on and where abouts they are in the league.

I think it is safe to say that there are people on every EU server that know how to play wvw and want to play wvw but they are very much a minority.

1.0 out of 5 stars buy at your own risk!!!! 14 May 2014

Since buying this game I've discovered they have very bad cust support. After only a month or so playing it I was "detected" by their badly written auto-detection system and auto banned without notice. After 20+ emails to their 'support' staff they refuse to admit that a game bug that made my char fall under the map and gave me no benefits whatsoever, was the reason for a PERMA ban. After reading the offical forums and other forums I've seen the same game bug has resulted in others losing their accounts, while the support staff simply send us copy and paste replies. So even honest players and being perma banned because of this companies bad auto-detection software they use and the support staff refuse to admit its their fault and not even looking into the facts.

So buy this game at your own risk, at any moment you can be perma banned without them so much as emailing you to tell you why and fixing the issue. Losing you all your items in-game even if you brought them with real money. First time 'offence' can and does = perma ban with no chance to get your account back.

I personally spent about £200 on in game items I thought I'd have forever, not to mention the cost of buying the game in the first place. All lost because of bugs in this new game and bad auto-detection software they're using without reviews. This compnay do not seem to spend any real time beta testing the game and are completely using players as beta testers instead and this increases the chances of players losing accounts..

If you do buy this game, stay away from ANY new content they add to the game until its been tested by the players (one month at least), to lower the risk of perma bans!

This whole issue has shown me there needs to be an independent body to over see the gaming industry and their unethical banning systems. Its not just a game, its real money they're taking off people.

Having played Guild Wars getting Guild Wars2 was the best thing I've done, a bit complicated to start with but once you get the hang of it a very addictive game.
