Only 2 days late (Pre-Purchase started on the 10th) and undercutting everyone except who are doing this for £39.99

Remember folks this is Pre-PURCHASE not just Pre-order. I'm frankly inclined to wait for launch then see how it pans out. Looking great so far but I've been burned too many times by MMOs...

Personally, I'm not interested in beta weekends and a headstart, so the question for me is how much is a normal retail copy going to cost and when will it be available?

Is this a physical pre-purchase as in I will get game discs on release, as opposed to a completely digital affair?

Edit: Update - It's not a physical copy. None of the standard editions are according to a Tweet I received.

Is it out of stock already? :<

Wouldn't surprise me, is out of stock estimating up to 28 days before they get new stock. It seems there is a pitiful number of codes being sent to listed retailers.

I read somewhere - can't remember where - that Amazon couldn't get any CE keys.

Posted on 13 Apr 2012 00:41:27 BDT
Philip Black says:
Zavvi is the only place in the UK selling the CE. They still have some because not only was it overpriced to start with but the UK version got slapped with an even more inflated price. £130 for a metal box, 112-page art book, 5 art prints, music CD and a 10-inch figure. Very uninspiring.

TheHut is also supplying them it seems.

A. Hargrave says:
Gamestop uk has the CE for £109..97
They also have the standard edition (pre-order and pre-purchase) for £38.97

I wish these companies would tell you how long it will take to arrive as or before you buy it. assured me it was instock, and later sent me an email saying it would take 28 days to restock and up to 14 days to despatch and deliver. So I cancelled my order and came here, narrowly avoiding the price increase, and despite the 3-5 working days to deliver and assurance that the package was in stock, it now appears I wont get it till april 20, potentially missing out on the first beta weekend.

Martin says:
I was going to pre-order here on Amazon until I saw the not in stock until 18th April, at which point is changed to in stock - I went for a coffee came back and price had increased.

Out of spite I am now just going to order on the Official Guild Wars 2 website

Note the order of events -
out of stock then price increase then back in stock . .

Kyle Kindred says:
It's the exact same price at either place, not much point to that.

Sure but Amazon keeps f***ing us around like this, at least buying from NCSoft we're giving all the payment to the people who deserve it.

dave34936 says:
Given that most retailers seem to have been late with stock, I think the blame rests with NCSoft, who'd rather we flock to their online store and cut out the middle men.

They're also the same darlings who've set the RRP ~$20 higher than in the US *and* decided we don't get the retail package later (unlike retail pre-purchase buyers in the US). But by all means, go ahead and reward them if you must.

Well I'm keeping a "watching brief" and happy to see Amazon have now discounted this to £40

Martin says:
^ It's because has had this at £39.99 for a long time and with the upcoming Beta Event Weekend for 27th-29th they were missing out on a lot of sales.

True but Amazon practically always discount RRPs so I'm sure they would have done so regardless of Play's efforts. I did take delight in pointing out Play's pricing last week as a gentle nudge though....

can you cancel the pre purchase?
