Fun:
I have been a long-time fan of this game. So much so that after I stopped using PCs and ended up using Macs as my primary computer, I actually missed playing it so I bought a gaming laptop so I could play it again.
Amazing and very addictive game that is, in essence, an RPG. Highly recommended to all RPG and strategy fans who like bits of grit.
There is also a smaller browser edition of this game called Europe 1400. Also very fun to play casually. Obviously it isn't as great as the original game, but it's still great.

Fun:
If you're into the medieval setting, you'd probably enjoy this game at least for a while. Don't expect much from the campaign - it's rubbish. The sandbox mode is really what the game is about. Pity about the multiplayer bugs as that's where the game really shines. It's reasonably stable over LAN on a relatively small map with a max of 1 additional AI, but beyond that expect the game to hang/crash/go out of sync often.
Fanmade addons Back to the Roots and Sovereign Edition are highly recommended. I normally prefer vanilla games, but in this case the addons fix some glaring mistakes and enhance some other elements of the game.
All-in-all an enjoyable game but don't expect something you will get addicted to for a long time.
