Format: Audio CD
The previous reviewer seems to be referring to another CD by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This CD set has 4 CD's, Bodyscan Meditation, Mindful Yoga, Sitting Meditation and Mindful Yoga 2. This CD forms the basis of the 8 week Mindfulness course developed by Jon Kabat Zinn and adapted by Mark Williams and others to run in the UK. The Bodyscan and the Sitting Meditation are the ones I use the most so far they form the bedrock for Mindfulness as put forward by Jon Kabat Zinn. I use them regularly and learn something about myself and Mindfulness every time I listen to the CD's. Jon Kabat-Zinn is the best teacher of Mindfulness I have found he talks total sense backed up by a scientific background and years of running courses on Mindfulness in hospitals and medical centres across America. If you want to considerably enhance your life get this CD and listen to it regularly for a month or so and see what affect it has. I am a counsellor and use Mindfulness in my work as it makes so much sense in helping us be more aware of our thoughts and skills to be able to come back into the present moment and be present with our experience whatever that may be.

I am so pleased to have found these CDs. I have practised many forms of mindfulness and meditation for 20 years and have no doubts about it's profound power and usefulness. However, I believe that Jon Kabat-Zinn has a the unique gift for offering teaching which is simple yet profound, supremely practical and yet deeply spiritual.

Before, I have found it hard to stick with the practise, I would get distracted, reactive or bored. However, listening to his CDS and reading his books has helped me to really embrace mindfulness and start to truly integrate it into my everyday life. The CDs are particularly useful as I find his tone of voice and spacious delivery help me tune into my deeper self. The effects are extremely powerful in all aspects of my life. A big thank you to Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Have used the body scan meditation on the first CD on a daily basis for a year now with stunning effects. The body scan puts one into a deep state of relaxation by focusing awareness and the breath on each body part. This is effectively equivalent to 'yoga nidra' in the yoga tradition. Jon Kabat-Zinn's aim is to bring the practice of mindfulness into everyday life. Regular use of the body scan meditation means that the body becomes more used to the prompts and can take you into relaxation much quicker. Very helpful as a tool to ease transition from the work day into home/personal life. The second meditation ends with two beautiful poems to reflect upon.

The yoga sequences are also very good, easy to follow and having two sessions means you can vary/alternate the practice.

Practical and down-to-earth package giving the listener the experience of stillness and self-compassion that empowers one to begin to live life in a greater state of mindfulness about oneself and others. It also trains the listener to learn to live in the present moment accepting things as they actually are and getting to know oneself as one is. One CD package that won't be gathering dust on the shelves.

This is a really good introduction to meditation, but Jon Kabat-Zinn's voice is so soothing and the meditations (particularly the first one) are so relaxing that I fall asleep. So now, if ever I'm having trouble sleeping, I play this meditation and am asleep in less than two minutes.

Perfect for anyone who wants to start mindfulness meditation and simple hatha yoga. I previously meditated but this is my starting point for mindfulness. Has helped with chronic pain too.....

Life is way too hectic, and we all forget to have our own quiet time. This CD pack is excellent for even those, who never have tried to meditate or have the feeling they won't be able to to it on their own. It is incredibly calming.

i gave this cd 4 stars,really because you really have to have the time to do it. i thought 15/20mins per day but each of these cd are 45mins long. i for one just dont have that time to spare. having said that it is very relaxing and it does help with stress and anxiety, it will work for you if you have the time.

These audio CD's are part of the 8 week mindfulness course and the exercises are standard teaching practice. I have attended a mindfulness course and use the principals and practice both in my daily life and with people I work with in psychology services. For the reader who is confused and underwhelemed by the volume of `new age` self help books and alternative therapies I would recommend these CD's to you. The author Jon Zabat-Zinn is not only a highly regarded professional in his field but one of those (rare) individuals who lives according to the practice and principals of his teachings. There is a growing scientific evidence base for the benefits of using mindfulness practice for physical and psychological problems and I believe these tapes provide an excellent start for the process of healing from within.
