About the Author
Richard Holmes is Professor of Military and Security Studies at Cranfield University and the Defense Academy of the United Kingdom. A leading military historian, he has presented seven B.B.C. T.V. series. Martin Marix Evans is an independent writer who has written numerous books on military history, including Forgotten Battlefronts of World War I and The Fall of France.

When Oxford releases a reference book, you know it will be excellent.
This is no exception. I wish it had come in a bigger grander edition, as this is a worthy edition to any library, or people who enjoy even reading about such things, any battle of any significance mentioned in a book or periodical is bound to be in this authoritative work.
