Product Description

Product Description

Fourteen-year-old Kyra has always felt different, but lately even her brother Karne has noticed her acting strangely--especially when she's near the ceremonial sacred stones that help guide and protect her village. When the villainous priest, Wardyke, overthrows the beloved elder, Maal, and threatens them all, Kyra must accept that her emerging psychic powers are her people's only hope. With guidance from Maal, and help from Karne and her best friend, Fern, Kyra enters the forbidden circle of stones to call upon unseen, mystical powers to banish Wardyke once and for all!

Moyra Caldecott's The Sacred Stones series, set in Bronze Age Britain, introduces readers to a time when magic existed in the workings of everyday life and the threat of evil loomed in the shadows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guardians of the Tall Stones - Moyra Caldecott, 14 May 2011
This review is from: Guardians of the Tall Stones: The Sacred Stone Trilogy (Paperback)
I bought the first book of the trilogy many years ago, loved it so much, couldn't wait for the nest one to come out.
Over the years I have read and re-read them so often they've fallen to bits; now I can read them all again in one book.
Thank you very much, Moyra Caldicott is one of my favorite authors, and I have many of her books on my bookshelves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and thought-full, 9 Oct 2005
This review is from: Guardians of the Tall Stones: The Sacred Stone Trilogy (Paperback)
This is a beatifully written book. It is of light and easily read style but with good quallity writting. It is a novel, that takes you on a journey with Kyra, to her adventures with her brother and friend, from childhood to maturity, full of images, passions, magic and love. But it is also a book for those interested in ancient pagan or nature centered beliefs, full of little thoughts and detailes ( divination, stone circles, delving..) that make it a interesting book just for this.
Beautifull and touching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Myth, magic, and megalithic adventure, 28 May 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Guardians of the Tall Stones: The Sacred Stone Trilogy (Paperback)
This story is set in Bronze Age Britain, somewhere between 2,000 BC and 600BC.Its is about the youth Karne, his sister Kyra and Fern, a child of nature. They thwart the plans of the evil magician priest Wardyke to take over their tribe.Kyra has psychic experiences and they travel south to the sun temples where she trains as a priestess. After many adventures the story culminates with the defeat of the terrible Groth, dark god of chaos. This book gives a plausible account of the use of ancient standing stones. They were built at earth power centres and could aid psychic experiences such as astral travel, in this case undertaken by Kyra and other priests. It is a believable depiction of life in ancient times and fans of Tolkien,Zimmer Bradley, etc. are sure to like it.
